My background in
mindfulness
, cognitive behavioral therapy, and attachment based therapy create a space for my clients to heal and grow in relationship with themselves and others.
I believe that we all need help and support in our lives, especially in times of crisis and change. We all have capacity and resiliency already present in our life, but sometimes we may need someone else to witness and help support us during times of grief and loss, change of identity, or interpersonal pain and relationship difficulties. I think that creating goals of changing the way that our thoughts and beliefs influence our feelings, being able to feel what we are going through with another person present, and setting concrete goals with our behavior can help when seeking therapy. This is what we can do together.

I've studied Jung and have been practicing
mindfulness
meditation for 20 years, am trauma informed and have completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training.
Welcome and congrats on making the courageous decision to enlist some extra support and come into therapy. You may be looking for a therapist because of a crisis of some kind; a depression, a loss, anxiety, or trauma symptoms. I see crisis as an opportunity for growth and love being there for people in their time of greatest need. Crisis can be seen as an invitation to go inward and reflect on what is not working. As a trauma informed psychotherapist with a relational approach, I work collaboratively with clients to identify what is keeping you from living more fully so you can live a more integrated and healthier life.

I use
mindfulness
to increase self-compassion, non-judgment, acceptance, awareness and to shift.
Much of the human experience is spent on autopilot, operating from habit. We can feel lost, anxious, and unhappy, disconnected with ourselves, not knowing our values or purpose. Automatic negative thinking, old family patterns and triggers can be on repeat. We often work, love, parent, and engage in relationships from this rather unconscious, unfulfilling place. Happiness can feel allusive here. Together, we can explore the process of waking up, to what's inside and discovering how to ground from a place of purpose. Come get curious! Please NOTE: I am an eco-therapist, I see clients in-person outside, or via tele-therapy.

I use a holistic, client centered approach paired with my understanding of grief and loss, trauma informed, creative art and
mindfulness
based therapies to tailor a therapeutic experience that is unique to your needs.
Have you experienced trauma, stress or loss in your life? The answer is yes, we all have a different tolerance for the things life throws at us. Everyday we experience adversities that can add up over our lifetime. Unfortunately, we live in a society that too often has a "forget about it and move on" attitude. I want to help you slow down and really look at how your life journey has impacted your overall mental health. My goal is to create a safe place for you or your child to begin understanding how these stressors are impacting your life. I want to normalize the importance of self awareness, communication and self love.

Mindfulness
, Body-Mind Psychotherapy, Person Centered Therapy, and I am also trained in EMDR.
Ever feel like you are not enough or that some days it is hard to get out of bed? Do you feel like life is overwhelming? Has a past trauma or loss kept you from living life fully? Does food or body image decide how you live? I believe that these thoughts, feelings, and emotions can play into depression, anxiety, PTS and disordered eating. With the exploration of the different aspects of yourself you will start to enjoy your life more fully. Through this growth and development you will experience a fuller life and feelings will start to be manageable and you can imagine going through life with a clear sense of self.

WELCOME! I ENJOY WORKING WITH INDIVIDUALS who are motivated to learn about themselves and their relationships~to their partner, family, work, creative endeavors and/or physical health. CLIENTS report that they appreciate my humor, compassion and interactive style. TOGETHER, we explore how specific patterns may be at the root of emotional, interpersonal and/or physical challenges. TO BRIDGE THE GAP that often occurs between insight and transformative change, I draw from my background in the MEDICAL FIELD, as well as from NEURO("BRAIN")SCIENCE,

PRACTICES and current research regarding the intricate RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH.

Through a variety of techniques such as
mindfulness
-based practices and body-centered inquiries, I can help you to recognize your own inherent wisdom.
Are you a sensitive person who feels overwhelmed by the world around you? Do you sometimes feel like your needs are overlooked by others? Do you find yourself experiencing the same problems despite your best efforts to do things differently? I get it. I have been there myself and an important thing to understand is that you are not alone. Many of us have difficulty knowing, or even asking, for what we need. We often suffer from patterns which repeat themselves and are hard to understand. This pain can manifest in the form of depression, anxiety, and relationship challenges, among other things.

mindfulness
, motivational interviewing, play therapy, gestalt therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Counseling is a journey and admitting that you need help is one of the hardest and most rewarding things you will do. This is an active journey that we will take together. Often we feel that activity and movement will help us to feel better, but underneath that unrest is a range of psychological processes such as depression, overwhelming stress, perfectionism, and anxiety. Choosing to ignore your issues tends to make life more difficult and places a strain on your relationships. Through our counseling relationship we will create goals, set the pace and find your path of healing.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
