" * LIFE TRANSITIONS: Weathering divorce, relationship endings, career change, loss , menopause.
WELCOME! I ENJOY WORKING WITH INDIVIDUALS who are motivated to learn about themselves and their relationships~to their partner, family, work, creative endeavors and/or physical health. CLIENTS report that they appreciate my humor, compassion and interactive style. TOGETHER, we explore how specific patterns may be at the root of emotional, interpersonal and/or physical challenges. TO BRIDGE THE GAP that often occurs between insight and transformative change, I draw from my background in the MEDICAL FIELD, as well as from NEURO("BRAIN")SCIENCE, MINDFULNESS PRACTICES and current research regarding the intricate RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH.

I use a holistic, client centered approach paired with my understanding of grief and loss , trauma informed, creative art and mindfulness based therapies to tailor a therapeutic experience that is unique to your needs.
Have you experienced trauma, stress or loss in your life? The answer is yes, we all have a different tolerance for the things life throws at us. Everyday we experience adversities that can add up over our lifetime. Unfortunately, we live in a society that too often has a "forget about it and move on" attitude. I want to help you slow down and really look at how your life journey has impacted your overall mental health. My goal is to create a safe place for you or your child to begin understanding how these stressors are impacting your life. I want to normalize the importance of self awareness, communication and self love.

As a Certified Grief Counselor, I have a passion for educating my clients about normal grief responses.
Do you get anxious and overwhelmed easily? Are you more emotional or feel things deeper than other people you know? Do you tend to notice things others don't? Are you highly intuitive? Have you always felt different or flawed? Do you startle easily or are sensitive to loud or annoying sounds? If you answered yes to many of these questions, you may have a normal trait known as a Sensory-Processing Sensitivity, aka Highly Sensitive People. I have this trait and am dedicated to helping others navigate their life in healthy ways. In addition to being a licensed therapist, I am a Certified Grief Counselor.

Welcome and congrats on making the courageous decision to enlist some extra support and come into therapy. You may be looking for a therapist because of a crisis of some kind; a depression, a loss , anxiety, or trauma symptoms. I see crisis as an opportunity for growth and love being there for people in their time of greatest need. Crisis can be seen as an invitation to go inward and reflect on what is not working. As a trauma informed psychotherapist with a relational approach, I work collaboratively with clients to identify what is keeping you from living more fully so you can live a more integrated and healthier life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
