Becoming a mother is the hardest journey, with more complexities than anyone could have prepared you for. The impact on your body, your marriage or
relationship
, the changes happening within your
partner
, the differences you may have about how to parent, how you want to mother, and the changes within your extended family. There are constantly evolving and shifting dynamics in this season of life.

In the therapeutic
relationship
, the psyche is held secure while debilitating emotions such as grief, depression, or anxiety are processed and transformed.
There are times when we need a caring professional to come alongside us like Virgil with Dante as we find our way through traumatic Infernos. Finding purpose and meaning in our troubles is impossible to do alone. Our soul suffers for lack of meaning -- something to fill the hollowness inside, besides material possessions and allusions of success. We long for something to bring light to the darkness of our mere existence. I would be honored to accompany you through your personal Infernos into the unfolding of your truer whole self.

My background in mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and attachment based therapy create a space for my clients to heal and grow in
relationship
with themselves and others.
I believe that we all need help and support in our lives, especially in times of crisis and change. We all have capacity and resiliency already present in our life, but sometimes we may need someone else to witness and help support us during times of grief and loss, change of identity, or interpersonal pain and
relationship
difficulties. I think that creating goals of changing the way that our thoughts and beliefs influence our feelings, being able to feel what we are going through with another person present, and setting concrete goals with our behavior can help when seeking therapy. This is what we can do together.

*IN-STATE TELETHERAPY AVAILABLE* You can't shake the feeling that you're settling for less than is possible in your
relationship

relationship
feel stuck, like they're just not going anywhere. You find yourself and your

getting upset and reacting in the same old unhelpful ways over and over, but just don't know how to find your way back to authentic, loving intimacy. You're scared there might not be a way back. But you're hopeful that, with professional support, you can reclaim the sexual and emotional intimacy you've been missing, and find a way out of the same old fights and back into being in love.

My counseling practice is about helping release people from burdens weighing them down so they can live freely, confidently, and enjoy their lives. Whatever forms a burden takes on (loss of self, trauma,
relationship
difficulty, emotional instability, spiritual abuse and much more), my hope is to help bridge a painful and self-rejecting narrative for one of acceptance and healing. My method is to help clients build tools and learn to practice boundaries, self-awareness, emotional stability, relational connection, self acceptance and more. I myself found great freedom in counseling, this experience led me to become a therapist.

You've probably discovered that life has presented you with a myriad of curve balls. Perhaps traumas from your past are lurking beneath the surface, waiting to be unveiled. Maybe you even notice your body sending you signals that something "feels off", or feel stuck in unhealthy
relationship
patterns and crave to break free. Waking up to our realities is a vulnerable and brave act, which can oftentimes feel frightening. I hold space for all of these experiences. Through trauma-informed psychotherapy and somatic (body-based) interventions, we will safely enter into a deep healing process for lasting change together.

My hope and expectation is that our therapeutic
relationship
will provide a safe place for you to begin the process of healing.
Life is hard, and most of us experience symptoms of sadness and stress at some point in our lives. It can be overwhelming trying to understand the source of our pain and determine the best path for healing. It is my belief that relationships are both the cause and the context of healing for many of our difficulties. Unfortunately, many of us struggle in our relationships and find that they contribute stress and tremendous pain to our lives. I am passionate about offering support for the relationships in your life and helping them become a source of connection and trust.

Relationship
habits with our intimate partners can create familiarity and easefulness—they can also inhibit a fresh and fulfilling way of being together. When
relationship
shortcuts create disconnection or even hurtful interactions, we feel misunderstood and not seen for our true hopes and intentions. I support you to slow down and connect in the present moment where the power resides to develop a whole-body intimacy with a
partner
. It is in the here and now where you can reawaken the creativity and integrity of your connection.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
