My work begins with the simple belief that every person—and every relationship, both within and between us—has an innate movement toward growth and healing. In therapy, I create a space where individuals and partners can soften their defenses, tend to the protective strategies that once kept them safe, and begin to meet themselves and one another with greater ease and openness, especially in moments of pain or conflict.

I take Kaiser! You've done a bunch of personal growth work. You know the relief of being with those who listen from the heart and help you explore the shadow. Those who stay present with you as you gently press into and navigate the discomfort, where the healing lies. Another layer of old patterns has emerged. You can feel it nudging you, sometimes in a big way. It’s time to lean into the next step. You want to deepen your internal connection, trust yourself and meet your world with full integrity, giving from your heart, your truth. It’s a bold act of love and demonstration of strength to get what you need to be the change.

As a Somatic Counselor, I work from an understanding of how our thoughts and emotions are necessarily intertwined with our body - internally with brain wiring and externally through behaviors that communicate when words do not. My focus is challenging emotional states and helping adults, partners, and families resolve what the resulting behaviors may be trying to communicate. Specifically, I work with anxiety/ptsd, depression, anger, health crises/fear of death or abandonment, low self-esteem, and grief. Together we choose methods that feel like a fit to meet your circumstance. Ultimately, the goal is empowerment.

We can work together to untangle issues with codependency, people pleasing behaviors, chronic guilt, low self-worth, childhood emotional neglect, family role trauma, anxiety and depression rooted in relational stress, and adult relationship healing.
As a child, adults said to you: “Wow, you’re mature for your age!” Maybe you had to be. Growing up, you walked on eggshells to keep the peace. You stayed as small, quiet, and compliant as possible. You found yourself parenting your parent, navigating their difficult emotions, but you weren’t allowed to have any of your own. As an adult, you find yourself continuing to live in these patterns in your closest relationships. You say “yes” when you want to say “no”. You put everyone else’s needs ahead of your own and feel overburdened with managing other's emotions . You doubt your intuition and feel lonely, unseen, and misunderstood .

To the deep feelers and thinkers, those who notice things that others miss, I see you. 20-30% of us are born with more finely-tuned nervous systems than others, yet most of us have been made to feel different, strange, and "too sensitive". If you often get overwhelmed by life and the chaos of the world, there's absolutely nothing wrong with you. I love helping Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) and others with neurodivergent brains understand themselves in light of unique wiring, heal from past trauma, and gain the self-trust to soar.

Have you experienced trauma, stress or loss in your life? Most likely the answer is yes, we all have a different tolerance for the things life throws at us. Everyday adversities can add up over our lifetime. Unfortunately, we live in a society that too often has a "forget about it and move on" attitude. I want to help you slow down and really look at how your life journey has impacted your overall mental health. My goal is to create a safe place for you or your child to begin understanding how these stressors are impacting your life. I want to normalize the importance of self awareness, communication and self love.

I work primarily with men experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic stress, or a sense of disconnection from themselves, their relationships, or their direction in life. Many are high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, shut down, or mentally exhausted internally. I help clients get to the root of what’s keeping them stuck by working directly with the nervous system, core beliefs, and protective patterns so real, lasting change can occur.

People don’t come to therapy because they want to do deep work, they come because something’s hurting, exhausting, or just hasn’t changed no matter how hard they try. I’ve sat with people in that place many times: the chronic pain that has no off-switch, the health that betrays you, the replaying of old hurts that still feels alive in the body.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
