I support clients by creating a collaborative, attuned space while integrating nervous system regulation, EMDR, and mindfulness-based art therapy to help them build self-trust and experience meaningful, lasting change.
I believe therapy should be a place where you feel heard, understood, and supported in growing in a way that feels authentic to you. Together, we build self-awareness, reduce the impact of anxiety and trauma, and develop tools for long-term emotional resilience and nervous system regulation.

I use a holistic, client centered approach paired with my understanding of grief and loss, trauma informed, creative art and mindfulness based therapies to tailor a therapeutic experience that is unique to your needs.
Have you experienced trauma, stress or loss in your life? Most likely the answer is yes, we all have a different tolerance for the things life throws at us. Everyday adversities can add up over our lifetime. Unfortunately, we live in a society that too often has a "forget about it and move on" attitude. I want to help you slow down and really look at how your life journey has impacted your overall mental health. My goal is to create a safe place for you or your child to begin understanding how these stressors are impacting your life. I want to normalize the importance of self awareness, communication and self love.

Other techniques I use include somatic techniques and art.
I specialize in working with individuals navigating religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and faith deconstructing and/or transitioning. Clients experiencing religious trauma may feel anxious, depressed, ashamed, or unsure of who they are outside of the belief system they were raised in. They may be experiencing relationship conflict as their beliefs change. They often feel a deep loss of community and identity. Together, we gently unpack experiences and create space of healing, clarity, and self-trust, while working on ways to navigate important relationships.

Counseling is a journey and admitting that you need help is one of the hardest and most rewarding things you will do. This is an active journey that we will take together. Often we feel that activity and movement will help us to feel better, but underneath that unrest is a range of psychological processes such as depression, overwhelming stress, perfectionism, and anxiety. Choosing to ignore your issues tends to make life more difficult and places a strain on your relationships. Through our counseling relationship we will create goals, set the pace and find your path of healing.

Some clients enjoy using art; others seek more traditional therapeutic approaches.
I am compassionate, warm, and client-centered. I am also HUMAN; sometimes weird and awkward too. I am comfortable truly being with people while they shed light on their challenges and work towards a better understanding of themselves. Utilizing a variety of modalities, I am skilled at shaping the therapeutic process that meets your individual needs.

As a child, adults said to you: “Wow, you’re mature for your age!” Maybe you had to be. Growing up, you walked on eggshells to keep the peace. You stayed as small, quiet, and compliant as possible. You found yourself parenting your parent, navigating their difficult emotions, but you weren’t allowed to have any of your own. As an adult, you find yourself continuing to live in these patterns in your closest relationships. You say “yes” when you want to say “no”. You put everyone else’s needs ahead of your own and feel overburdened with managing other's emotions . You doubt your intuition and feel lonely, unseen, and misunderstood .

I believe art is a great way to integrate messages tat come via imagery.
I offer a compassionate, person-centered, non-judgmental approach. I believe art helps to pull up, like water from a well (draws up) the inner self and the art product can be explored to help find the answers the client is looking for. I also work with, mindfulness, internal parts of IFS and somatic therapies, helping clients to look within for awareness.

Art Therapy Therapists
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
