I'm Amara, a licensed clinical social worker, passionate about guiding individuals, couples and families through life's challenges towards healing, transformation and self-discovery. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal relationships, burn out, personal growth and fostering a sense of self worth and confidence. I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience. I provide individual therapy for those age 17 and older. Issues I commonly work with include anxiety, OCD, panic, relationship issues, grief and loss, depression, anger, sexual trauma, intimate partner abuse, PTSD, childhood abuse/neglect, and medical trauma/chronic disease. In my practice, I aim to provide professional expertise in a context that is comfortable and non-intimidating. Clients generally appreciate my warm and friendly personality, my clear feedback and direction, and the freedom to intersperse some laughter amidst our hard work.

I specialize in working with children, teenagers and families. I have advanced training in Play Therapy, Equine Therapy and Wilderness Therapy. A lot of children can struggle with experiences in life. Sometimes something specific happens and your child might need support expressing themselves appropriately. Other times your child might struggle with more general behavioral issues. Needing help is normal and I have helped many children and teens move through difficult experiences and behaviors to a place of stability and balance.

My passion has been working with people and helping them form healthy relationships with themselves and others. After years of working with emotionally challenged children, exhausted parents,at risk teens and their families, therapy has become a profession as well as a passion. I have had the privilege to treat the community of Boulder and Metro Denver, and have a huge range of knowledge of and connections with local resources. I have spent my professional experiences constantly being impressed with the amazing transformations that people with real life challenges can and do achieve with the right skills, guidance and dedication.

I provide a safe environment for my clients to work through the issues that are the basis for why they are seeking counseling. I believe that so much of what we deal with is rooted in past negative beliefs we have adopted over the years, beginning with childhood. Using a variety of tools and techniques, I help my clients create healthier ways of relating to themselves and the world around them.

Brian earned his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1998, where he specialized in working with children, youth and families. After closing both his Boulder and Fort Collins offices, Brian is now accepting new clients at his Loveland Colorado office.
