You may be fed up with miscommunication, feeling invalidated and misunderstood or feeling distant from others. You might not even remember a time thing didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to find a better way. You’re ready to feel connected to others. Most of all, you’re ready for better relationships and personal life fulfillment. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who has a personal, conversational approach that they can relate to, because therapy should be a place where you feel safe and relaxed. Sessions with me are more like talking to friends.

Waitlist for new clients
I am currently on a waitlist for talk therapy and only accepting new KAP clients currently. Fifteen years ago, in my late 20s, I faced an existential crisis. The pain and shame of knowing I was meant for more—more happiness, meaning, and purpose—without knowing how to get there was overwhelming. At times, terrifying. With the help of others, I discovered my unique path to an authentic, self-led life. My mission as a therapist is to return that gift. I believe we all have an innate ability to heal from past wounds, rewrite our inner story, and reunite with a sense of self that feels whole, connected, and fulfilled.

We believe that connection and community are essential in the world we live in today. We all have a need to feel worthy, worthwhile, wanted, appreciated and loved. Without meaningful connection we often try to silence our pain of disconnection by drugs, alcohol, overeating, social media and much more. Loving ourselves and others, vulnerability, connection and community are essential steps for growth as we navigate life’s journey.

Life Change Counseling is about a person's right to live in autonomy and move past any situation that caused them to doubt, become shameful, or harbor guilt around their part. Recovery is a process of having someone genuine and non-judgmental to guide them through their thoughts leads to transformation. A client-centered approach in the therapeutic relationship involves self-actualization, empathy, and unconditional positive regard when practicing a person-centered approach. I believe Eclectic therapy isn't a specific type of therapy. The phrase describes the way many counselors work. They may begin therapy in one style and shift to

COUNSELING and COACHING - it's a powerful 21st century approach, with tremendous therapeutic benefits and real world results. People frequently report, my therapist stares at me, and says or does nothing. This is classic 20th century therapy (it's old, and moderately effective). Our clients do not pay us to sit and do nothing - they pay us to work as a team; making you the best you. Feel free to read client testimonials, and learn more about our services at: www.yourlifecounseling.com

I believe that people do the best with what they have. Trauma, stress, anxiety and adverse life experiences can, at times, derail us from being our “best”. My role as a therapist is to help you reach your pinnacle. I always work from a strengths-based and client-centered focus. The client is the expert of their own life, but I serve as an agent for change to assist in developing, applying and supporting the therapeutic growth. I have experience with children, teenagers, young adults (up to age 35), couples and families.

You matter and your unique story matters. Together we will work to unearth the issues contributing to your pain and chart a path forward. Along the way we'll also discover your strengths that will aid you in healing. Depression, anxiety, and other issues are not the end of the road. There is hope and we will work toward that hope.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
