For the past 25 years, I have helped people heal from the emotional pain that frequently results from divorce, trauma, abuse, the death of loved ones, and physical illness. I have helped people make changes so that they can lead happier and more rewarding lives. In my practice, the focus of therapy is on YOU, so that together we can increase your awareness about YOUR life patterns, build on YOUR strengths, and help YOU develop new coping strategies. I believe that problems can be solved when we learn to focus on our strengths while appreciating and dealing with our past.

I also see teens and adults via telehealth.
The feeling of safety may seem elusive or perhaps nonexistent as one person in this big, unpredictable world. How does one navigate and cope with the constant changes of life? It may feel as though experiences like loss of motivation, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, or grief make you undeserving of feeling safe, whole, and loved again. You are not broken or undeserving. It is not selfish to need support. Sometimes you just need someone to remind you of this while you build yourself back up again.

* I am no longer accepting new clients* I believe the most profound change occurs within relationships. Whether that be the therapeutic relationship, a relationship with yourself, a partner, parent, child, or family member, relationships in all their forms have the ability to foster new ways we see and interact with ourselves and others. While relationships impact us, they do not define us. Each individual carries the strength within them to make the change they wish to see.

In the intensity of life its easy to feel thrown off: How do we recover our balance? Sometimes it helps to have support in figuring out next steps, finding open ground in your world. Hi! I am a neurofeedback coach and licensed therapist passionate about helping individuals unlock their full potential by understanding and harnessing the power of their brains. Research proves the brain holds the key to navigating life’s challenges—whether it’s stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances, or difficulty staying focused—and that with the right tools, everyone can experience a healthier, more balanced mind. Through a blend of brain mapping, Neurofeedback, and evidence-based interventions, I work with clients to identify the underlying patterns contributing to their struggles.

I specialize in trauma and identity work, often with queer and trans youth, teens, and adults navigating a world that isn't always affirming.
Yo! I’m Payton, I’m an openly queer + nonbinary human and my pronoun are they/she! I think that humans are the coolest. My philosophy as an Identity Doula + Healing Practitioner takes into consideration that every human and every situation is different, thus unique tools and approaches are required for unique people and things. Sessions with me will go beyond standard talk therapy, as it is my personal and professional opinion that humans often heal with art, movement, visuals, embodiment, activities, and music better than they do with standard talk therapy alone. (Try to think of this as fun and exciting, not scary or awkward!)

Something has shifted, and what used to feel manageable no longer does. Maybe it's the anxiety that tightens your chest before you've even gotten out of bed, the grief that moves through you in waves, or the awareness that the same patterns keep playing out in your relationships. Perhaps you're navigating a life transition — a new role as a parent, the end of a relationship, a loss that hasn't loosened its grip. Whatever brought you here, the fact that you're reading this tells me something important: some part of you is ready to understand what's happening beneath the surface.

I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who are navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity challenges, and academic or social stress.
My ideal client is a person who is feeling stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed by life’s pressures. They may seem “fine” on the outside but are struggling inside. They’re looking for a space to talk openly, feel understood, and make sense of what they’re going through. Their goal isn’t perfection. It’s clarity, confidence, and the ability to manage life with more ease and self-trust.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
