I'm an individual and family therapist, also a substance use disorder counselor. My education and 17 years' experience enables me to work with individuals as they recognize and manage the impact of their (or that of their loved ones) substance use on their world. Apart from SU issues, I also support clients navigating life transitions, recovering from loss, or experiencing conflicts within their network of interpersonal relationships. I especially enjoy working with individuals with difficulty managing moods (depression, anxiety, anger, etc.), developing and practicing a plan for positive change.

Maybe you have an overloaded to-do list and feel unappreciated by your loved ones. You hustle every day but never feel like you've done "enough" to deserve rest. Growing up, you didn't have great role models for boundaries, apologies, or accountability, so you struggle with conflict or tension in your adult relationships. If you take care of others and often feel anxious and burned out, you're in the right place. I help healers and caregivers who feel overwhelmed and burned out by supporting them in feeling valued and grounded through deep self-reflection and boundary-setting. We collaborate to find the best path forward for you.

UPDATE! Now taking insurance...Do you have a hard time setting boundaries? Do you feel like you don't have a voice when you need to ask for what you need? How hard is it for you to accept that you are valuable, and worthy of love and respect? It can be really hard when it feels like everyone is treating you like you're not. It's also a challenge to look at what you're going through as an opportunity or a blessing. Your power comes from how you move forward from this, no one can take that, your voice, or your self-respect from you. I assure you; this is the absolute best way to view it.

Healing isn’t about being fixed, it’s about feeling understood and supported. I approach therapy as something we do together, with honesty, curiosity, and care. We’ll look at what’s underneath what you’re experiencing while building a space where you can show up as you are without judgment. Vulnerability is part of the process, and so is laughter, both matter here. I value authenticity, respect, and trust, and those values guide how I show up in our work together, while also helping you build insight, strengthen coping, and feel more grounded in your day to day life.

Our foundational beliefs, values, experiences, and attitudes are the foundation upon which everything that comes into our lives is built. Like building a home, if a stone in the foundation is skewed, the house is structurally compromised. When we experience trauma or negative experiences, everything that touches upon that foundation is compromised. This can lead to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, and a loss of life direction, just to name a few possible results. We all can restructure our lives through processing and perspective.

Are you filled with self-doubt and stress, going through your days exhausted and overwhelmed? Do you feel alone? Afraid? Lost? Empty? If you do you're in the right place. Many of these emotions are what categorize symptoms of depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. Imagine replacing self-criticism with self-trust, and doubt with clarity. That possibility is real — and it begins with choosing yourself. The time and energy you invest in this process are invaluable. Few pursuits offer more lasting meaning or impact than this kind of inner work. Imagine replacing self-criticism with self-trust, and doubt with clarity. You are worth it.

On the outside, you appear capable, steady, and responsible. You show up, meet expectations, and keep things moving forward. Yet inside, the pressure doesn’t let up. Your mind stays busy anticipating problems, replaying conversations, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You’re holding it all together – work or school demands, family responsibilities, and personal expectations – without space to slow down. Over time, that tension wears you out mentally and physically. Beneath the constant effort and worry is a desire to feel calmer, more grounded, and confident that you can handle life without all the internal pressure.

Secular and Non-Religious Therapists
What is a secular and non religious approach in therapy?
Secular or non-religious therapy is a theoretical orientation used by many therapists and describes a therapeutic approach that does not rely on any specific religious or faith-based beliefs in the therapeutic process. Secular counselors will often approach therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients, instead of relying on religious practices, such as prayer or belief in God.
Is secular therapy primarily for non-religious people?
Both religious and non-religious individuals can benefit from secular therapy. People exploring their religious or spiritual beliefs may find it especially useful to work with a secular therapist who is unbiased toward any specific religion. While religious individuals might value the connection and familiarity of seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs, secular counseling can offer them the chance to develop coping skills independent of their religious practice, which can be beneficial in various aspects of their lives.
Can a secular approach to therapy help with religious trauma?
One major reason clients may seek a secular therapist is to process previous religious experiences, including religious trauma. Secular therapists can help clients manage symptoms of the trauma through practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They can also encourage clients through talk therapy or psychodynamic approaches to explore the roots of their religious trauma. Since secular therapists do not have any predetermined religious beliefs, they can be particularly helpful for clients looking to explore their own religious beliefs following a history of religious trauma.
What does non religious marriage and premarital counseling involve?
Marriage and premarital counseling typically involves a couple meeting with a therapist to discuss topics such as planning for marriage, navigating a new marriage, addressing relationship challenges, and developing better communication and conflict resolution skills. Non-religious therapists assist couples in achieving these goals without adhering to specific religious beliefs or frameworks, often emphasizing inclusivity and non-judgment, especially for "nontraditional" couples. However, seeking couples therapy from a non-religious counselor does not mean religious topics are off-limits. In fact, non-religious couples from different religious backgrounds may benefit from a secular therapist who remains neutral toward the beliefs of each partner.
