Life Change Counseling is about a person's right to live in autonomy and move past any situation that caused them to doubt, become shameful, or harbor guilt around their part. Recovery is a process of having someone genuine and non-judgmental to guide them through their thoughts leads to transformation. A client-centered approach in the therapeutic relationship involves self-actualization, empathy, and unconditional positive regard when practicing a person-centered approach. I am here to bring hope to people who are hurting. Every person, made in the image of God, is valuable. My personal mission statement is "to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free", taken from Isaiah 61:1. With compassion, I try to help each person untangle what is often "the web" of their situation and assist them in overcoming difficult circumstances in life. A person may have been abused and feel great stress, despair, and even torment. Regardless of your life story, I believe that with God, there is a clear pathway to a better life.

My mission includes guiding individuals through recovery from substance abuse and helping families and couples navigate conflicts, fostering open communication and understanding.
I offer a nurturing, holistic approach to mental health through traditional talk therapy, accompanying clients on a journey of self-discovery. I highly recommend acupuncture as a vital part of treating substance abuse. Studies show that it assists with dual diagnosis.

Many seek me out to address trauma, addiction, severe anxiety, or relationship issues.
I am the founder of the "The Socratic Challenge" and formed my own theory of psychology from studying philosophy and psychology. I have master's degrees in both subjects. While it may sound esoteric, the Challenge is for everyone and easy to learn. My ultimate goal is to help you think for yourself, so that you do not need a therapist.

You are NOT a malfunctioning human! Navigating the world with a brain that works differently can be difficult, even traumatic. Therapy is most effective when you can bring your authentic self and build genuine trust; it is nearly impossible to make sustainable gains when you are masking or feel misunderstood. My eclectic and strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach meets you where you are and encourages you to embrace your identity and work with your brain, not against it.

I specialize in depression, trauma and addiction.
Most likely you're not looking for a therapist because you feel so awesome you want to pay someone to talk about it. I know that certainly wasn't the case for me - I first sought therapy because I was in a ton of pain (and not the physical kind). If that sounds familiar, first off, welcome. Second, although suffering is difficult, sometimes it is the only thing that can motivate us to make the positive changes necessary for true happiness. Although it might be external circumstances that caused you to start looking for a therapist, it is the internal work that sets us free.

Find meaningful change, new perspectives, and a clear path forward. Struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, loneliness, unhelpful patterns, or unresolved trauma can become barriers to a fulfilling and connected life. Many come to therapy feeling stuck, exhausted, and disconnected from themselves, their values, and others. Trauma keeps the score; however, healing is possible. I offer evidenced based, integrative tools and techniques to help you find your path toward wellness for the whole person. The invitation is open. You are welcome into this space to be seen, heard, and accepted with compassion and presence.

Sometimes we find that we get out of alignment resulting in decreased and defensive communication, lack of connection and things like betrayal and addiction.
I specialize in a model of therapy that supports couples in exploring their relational patterns through a biological and attachment lens. Couples begin to understand how their early attachment relationships and their Central Nervous System impact relational functioning. As a result, couples reclaim intimacy, deepen connection and increase communication.

My primary specialties include relationships, communication skills, anxiety management, and substance use and addiction issues.
I understand that men are sometimes reluctant to engage in therapy. Many men are not getting attention they need when it comes to their mental health. All mental health needs must be addressed by first identifying underlying causes and conditions. One of my jobs is to hep clients "diagnose" these factors. I am also an addiction specialist.

Do you feel alone, anxious, worthless? Do you find that stuffing down the loneliness, negative thoughts, hurt, anger, fear, or unhappiness doesn’t work anymore? Maybe it never really did. You try to hold life together, but it just keeps breaking. Desperate to keep it together, you’re crumbling inside. You’re hurting – aching to feel important and valued and to feel like you matter. The hurt and pain seep out everywhere. It's time to take care of yourself. You deserve someone safe to help process all the hurt inside, the pain you endure, and someone to listen to your story with empathy and compassion. Don't wait any longer.

Addiction Therapists
What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
