I work with clients from 12 years old through adulthood. I provide support to clients through a systemic lens while they process through depression, anxiety, ADHD, attachment injuries, and an array of other challenges my clients might face. I meet with individuals, couples, or entire families. Additionally, I specialize in attachment-based methods of therapy, and work with families to repair severed relationships through Reunification/Reintegration therapy.

I work from a Narrative Theoretical Lens, which means that I believe the stories we tell are reflective of the life we are living. I also engage in an integrative approach which means I pull from many different therapeutic techniques. I welcome all clients, and provide an empathetic, warm space to my clients. Whether you need assistance in working through a traumatic event, gaining better stress management and coping skills, or just someone to process some of life's toughest moments, I strive to serve all clients. One of my primary goals is to assist clients in learning to accept all of their emotions--even the challenging ones.

Making the initial phone call to seek counseling can be one of the most difficult things to do. I have worked with many clients who initially avoid counseling because of fear, shame, or anxiety around sharing their experience. My hope is to be a safe place to process the ups and downs of life. Anxiety, depression and self critical thoughts can take the joy from our lives and leave us feeling hopeless and alone. Our relationship with food may be unhealthy and we may feel suicidal or compelled to self harm. We want to move through the world with confidence while living a life of purpose but are overwhelmed and feel stuck. Goals go unmet, and our world becomes smaller as we resist challenges in our social life, school and career, out of fear and discomfort. We want to have more friends, do well in school and have a satisfying job or family life. We want to be happy and fulfilled.

Hi! My specialty is in trauma and complex trauma. What does that mean? Well, what trauma is to each person is different but there are levels that do take one to severe disruption in their daily lives. This disruption is where I want to help people discover how to define what it is, work to find a way to manage the chaos and emerge with a hope that life can be all that they desire. The person that struggles with this will understand what I am describing and be intrigued to meet with me to see if we are a therapy fit. This holds true in any of the many areas of therapy that I have listed as I have experience and passion to help.

For the last twenty three years I have provided services to individuals and couples with a broad range of mental health concerns. I like to avoid placing labels on people and tend to focus on presenting problems. I am an intern working towards a dual degree in mental health counseling (MHC) and school counseling. I attend Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. I am currently working for RMU's counseling clinic via telehealth. I am also under the supervision of Lauren Prior here in Greeley. My focus is grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ, and neurodivergence. I know seeing an intern may not be your first choice, but there can many advantages. Mary-Eliza St.Gemme-Pate is a graduate of Western Colorado University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in School Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. Currently, she is a school counselor for an elementary school. She has a passion for working with all individuals and decided to get her licensure to become a professional counselor. At her school, Mary-Eliza also teaches a social-emotional curriculum to help children foster emotional awareness, emotional regulation, social skills, friendships, and many more skills. However, Mary-Eliza works with all ages.

Healing trauma and attachment is my passion. It is my job to partner with you while we work to improve your relationship with yourself, and in turn with those around you. I am the agent to hold stress and tension with you as we work together to move past self-preservation and into healing. With specialized training in complex trauma, attachment, abuse, and adoption I work with all individuals (adults and children), and families through a variety of psychotherapy approaches determined by your needs. Peaceful Paws Therapy integrates counseling guidance along with the support and interaction of my therapy partners- dogs, horses, fainting goats, guinea pigs and alpacas. There is a body of research supporting animals in therapy to enhance physical, emotional, and social well being, and we strive to do just that.
