The clients I support are complex and have lived individual lives. They have faced their own experiences, and just need a hand exploring their depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem challenges, attachment insecurities, and anything else that weighs heavily for them. In many cases, my clients want to repair relationships within their families and their communities, and must overcome other barriers in order to have healthy relationships.

I believe that all humans have greatness within themselves; it's important to work with a therapist who sees yours (even if you or others do not). I work well with young adults to seniors who are leery about seeking help, feel coaxed in to counseling, or who have had bad experiences in the past. I strive to make you feel comfortable so you can be honest with me - and yourself - about your problems, mood complaints, or substance use. Others tell me they immediately sense my genuineness and non-judgmental character.

I work best with four groups: 1. Young adults navigating faith, career, dating, life goals and trying to make wise choices about the future. 2. Men who want to be strong husbands, fathers, leaders and protectors, but struggle with anxiety, depression, habits like porn or overdrinking, faith doubts, or fear about where culture is headed. 3. Married individuals who feel stuck in unhealthy patterns and worry their marriage is slipping away. 4. Anyone searching for a counselor who respects their Christian faith or libertarian/conservative worldview. If you’ve struggled to find a therapist who “gets” you, you may have just found a fit.

Healing begins in a nonjudgmental space, one where we can look honestly at what's not working, understand how it may have served us in the past, and explore what meaningful change could look like moving forward. My role is to support, encourage, and empower you as you move from surviving to thriving. If you’re a dog person, you’ll be happy to know that Luna, my sweet and intuitive cattle dog mix, can join your sessions and offer her own form of therapeutic support, usually in the form of enthusiastic tail wags and gentle presence.

Do you find yourself unable to get a thought or feeling out of your head? Even when you do everything to gain peace and calm, it never lasts and you find yourself needing to seek reassurance or check again that everything is all right. Anxiety comes in many forms, and sometimes it feels like you spend so much time in your head, that your life and relationships suffer. The uncertainty of the future can leave you exhausted from trying to prevent all the potential catastrophes. Perhaps you suffer from regrets and replaying scenes from your past. The good news is that there are effective treatments for this type of persistent anxiety.

I draw from a blend of therapeutic approaches including: EMDR for trauma, PTSD, and negative core beliefs, ERP for OCD and phobias, neuro-affirming I-CBT for intrusive thoughts and anxious thinking patterns, and mindfulness and somatic techniques to help regulate the nervous system and reconnect with the body.
Are anxiety, trauma, or intrusive thoughts making it harder to feel present and engaged in your daily life? Maybe you’re overthinking messages and emails, replaying conversations, or working to get things “just right” in hopes of finally relaxing. Whether your struggles are loud and overwhelming or quiet and exhausting, you don’t have to navigate them alone. I work with individuals navigating PTSD, OCD, phobias, anxiety, difficulty understanding internal experiences, and long-standing patterns that feel hard to shift.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
