We all need help sometimes. This help often comes from family members and friends, but sometimes we need a different type of help - help that comes from someone who prioritizes your growth, values, and perspective. Someone who can listen without judging, see your strengths and help you build upon them. Someone who can help you write your own story and teach you strategies to deal with troubling thoughts or feelings. Someone who can help you through a stressful or traumatic situation. Someone who gets to know you, and then challenges some of the ways you've been doing things.

You're in the middle of real change, a relationship ending or transforming, an identity shifting, a sense that who you've been isn't who you're becoming. It can feel disorienting, even lonely & isolating. I work with women navigating major life transitions. I specialize in helping women identify & unwind what I call "the scarcity of desirability," the early-learned belief that worth & desirability are limited, & that other women are competitors rather than allies. This work centers on reclaiming power as an innate birthright (not something earned through being chosen) & building new, embodied evidence of their own inherent worth.

I love to work with people who are ready to actually know themselves. Not in a surface-level way, in the way that changes how you show up in your relationships, your career, and your own head. A lot of my work centers on self-esteem, communication, and boundaries. I take a holistic approach, we'll look at the thought patterns that keep you stuck, but we'll also pay attention to your nervous system, because insight alone rarely changes behavior. Your body holds a lot of the story too. I look at the relationship you have with yourself, and the relationships you have with the people/environment around you.

Psychotherapy for those located in Colorado and Virginia, who are willing, ready, and able to prioritize their healing, so they may flourish on their journey. True healing requires time, patience, and great courage. It requires that you acknowledge what you’ve been through and take ownership of who you are. Let go of the story you keep telling yourself. Let go of the attachments to trauma, to your story, to your suffering. You’ve done enough. It’s time that you take your life back.

Many people have spent so much of their lives trying to be who they thought they needed to be that they've lost sight of who they really are. They've felt stifled in life from various places and experiences that have happened over time. You may not even know that's what it is! But it often shows up as overperforming, people-pleasing, striving for perfection, or feeling the need to constantly prove your worth. Yet despite all your efforts, you still feel exhausted, anxious, and unsure of yourself. Is this you? I can help!

I believe who you are is not something in need of fixing. When we feel stuck or disconnected, life feels profoundly more stressful. I work with individuals who are finally ready to take that first step on their path towards self discovery or have already begun the process on their own. During our work together, my goal is to establish a meaningful relationship with a shared sense of ownership for your treatment. The greatest predictor of treatment success is the therapeutic alliance between the therapist and client. I connect with my clients through empathy, compassion humor and metaphor.

Many of us move through life carrying stories that were never fully processed — experiences of loss, trauma, disconnection, or relationships that left us feeling unseen. I aim to create an inviting space where we can gently explore and honor these stories together. My approach to healing is integrative, spiritual, and deeply relational. I draw from somatic practices, attachment theory, and evidence-based psychotherapy to help clients explore the convergence between mind, body, and soul. I believe that meaningful change often happens through compassionate awareness of our emotions, patterned behavior, and our lived experiences.

While your life might look put together, inside there may be a persistent sense of dissatisfaction, restlessness, or chaos. You might be having trouble in romance, friendships, or in navigating difficult family dynamics. Maybe you struggle with food, body image, substances, or other escapes as a way to cope with it all. Perhaps you are feeling increasingly overwhelmed by the state of the world and wondering about your own role in it. You would like to be more sure of yourself and your life's path, but are uncertain about how to get there. You likely have done some therapy before, but sense that there is a need to delve deeper.

I have completed advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and I am currently offering psychoanalysis as a psychoanalytic candidate.
You want to live a full, vital, creative life, but something is in the way. Maybe you feel anxious or down, or you find yourself in the same relational patterns again and again, or you feel tangled up in your relationship with food and your body. Maybe you are grappling with a loss or life transition, or struggling with traumas that continue to reverberate. Perhaps everything feels like a mess. You may not be sure how to get there, but you hope for change within yourself that is meaningful, and lasts - something more than a "band-aid" approach.

Are you experiencing stress, anxiety or depression as the result of a major life change? Life changes can be exciting: new job, recent marriage, birth of a child. Life changes can also be terrifying: loss of job, divorce, death of a loved one. You may initiate some life changes: planned retirement, move to another city or another country. Other life changes seem to force themselves upon you: a toxic relationship with a loved one that is no longer acceptable, unexpected injury, loved one that has betrayed your trust.

Do you ever find that your need to be logical gets in the way of being emotionally present? Ever find yourself stuck on the outside, seeing your experience from afar? Ever find yourself lost, knowing the right path for you is just the other side of the darkness? You don’t need to be taught basic CBT or DBT skills, or to be told to touch grass, stay off social media, and get more sunlight; you’ve tried all of that. You don’t have to go through this alone. Ideal clients: relationship challenges (non-monogamous/non-traditional relationship structures, kink, LGBTQIA+, immigrant identities,) separation/divorce, co-parenting etc.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
