Grief, loss and trauma shape the ways that we approach our daily lives, and sometimes the pain that accompanies these experiences becomes more than anyone can manage on their own. We develop coping strategies in an effort to safely navigate the world, and occasionally these coping strategies become problematic or no longer work for us. Change can be hard and it can be scary, but it can also be exciting and fulfilling; my hope is to help create space to access the range of experiences that arise through the therapeutic process.

As a Counselor, I am proud to have the privilege to step into the therapeutic space with a warm heart, playful spirit, and open mind. Having worked in a variety of settings over the past 10 years from school-based counseling to county-wide Crisis Response, I have witnessed the full spectrum of the human experience across the lifespan. I am aware how jarring transitions can be, how trauma shatters our sense of self and security, and how disruptive and painful depression and anxiety are in one’s daily life.

I believe who you are is not something in need of fixing. When we feel stuck or disconnected, life feels profoundly more stressful. I work with individuals who are finally ready to take that first step on their path towards self discovery or have already begun the process on their own. During our work together, my goal is to establish a meaningful relationship with a shared sense of ownership for your treatment. The greatest predictor of treatment success is the therapeutic alliance between the therapist and client. I connect with my clients through empathy, compassion humor and metaphor.

I am passionate about creating a safe and supportive atmosphere to help you explore and find your authentic self and voice. I believe in tailoring the treatment to the individual and am comfortable using mind-body techniques and cognitive-behavioral interventions as needed for anxiety, depression, sexuality and gender concerns, relational issues and substance use. Of special interest to me is working with couples and other relationship dynamics. I have post graduate training in Gottman therapy as well as extensive training around human sexuality.

Specific to couples therapy, I enjoy helping couples discover the underlying emotions driving discomfort and disconnection, leading to change.

Children aren’t always able to express their thoughts and feelings with words, so they will show you how they’re doing through their behaviors and their play. I can help kids ages 5-13 with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, ADHD and trauma, both in person and through telehealth.

I work with adults and college students experiencing depression, anxiety, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress, family and personal relationship difficulties, and academic or occupational stress. I have been trained in brainspotting and am a certified perinatal mental health professional

I love working with individual clients of all ages. I worked with children as a teacher for years, using humor and play, but I realized the relationship is really what I valued about the work; so I left teaching and became a counselor! Through humor and compassion, my style is up front, working side-by-side with clients of all ages. In addition to talk therapy, we might also use expressive arts, play, or incorporation of other activities based on whatever the client needs.

I am a licensed psychotherapist studying psychology, psychotherapy, and its intersection with spirituality for almost a decade. All these symptoms are our soul's way of calling us back home to ourselves when we are astray too far and/or too long from our true selves.
