Humans are one of the only species that pair bond, meaning we connect to another with the biological advantage of navigating life together as a TWO versus a ONE. This type of pair bonding demands special attunement to ensure that we are navigating partnership in a sustainable way. Life doesn't always afford us the opportunity to slow down and attune to the things necessary to keep our partnership in alignment. Sometimes we find that we get out of alignment resulting in decreased and defensive communication, lack of connection and things like betrayal and addiction.

You deserve a life that feels connected, meaningful, and truly your own. That kind of life is possible and you don’t have to get there alone. If you’re feeling disconnected or struggling to stay present, unresolved trauma and wounded parts may be in need of care and attention. For neurodivergent folks, trauma often intersects with sensory experiences and self-perception in unique ways. Together, we’ll explore what might be impacting your well-being and strengthen the inner resources that support your healing. I believe we all have the capacity to turn pain into insight and create new meaning from what we’ve lived through.

An ideal client is anyone that wants to understand their “why” and better themselves by first, validating their existence and purpose. I want to help people explore who they are, how to create work arounds and strategies for the things they struggle with and to teach them how to celebrate their very existence and reason.

I am a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. I utilize elements of CBT, Humanistic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, DBT, EMDR, ACT and Internal Family Systems therapy to create a therapeutic approach to meet your individual needs, rather than try to make clients fit into a one-size-fits-all approach.

Something isn't working — and you may not be able to say exactly what. You've managed, accomplished, perhaps sought help before. Yet a familiar dissatisfaction returns. Relationships repeat their patterns. A symptom persists despite your best efforts to be rid of it. Psychoanalysis begins precisely here: not with a treatment plan, but with a question about what your suffering might be trying to say. This is not short-term or symptom-targeted work. There is no curriculum, no homework, no fixed endpoint. Just your voice, without a filter.

My primary specialties include relationships, communication skills, anxiety management, and substance use and addiction issues.
I understand that men are sometimes reluctant to engage in therapy. Many men are not getting attention they need when it comes to their mental health. All mental health needs must be addressed by first identifying underlying causes and conditions. One of my jobs is to hep clients "diagnose" these factors. I am also an addiction specialist.

Are you experiencing stress, anxiety or depression as the result of a major life change? Life changes can be exciting: new job, recent marriage, birth of a child. Life changes can also be terrifying: loss of job, divorce, death of a loved one. You may initiate some life changes: planned retirement, move to another city or another country. Other life changes seem to force themselves upon you: a toxic relationship with a loved one that is no longer acceptable, unexpected injury, loved one that has betrayed your trust.

Many are navigating life transitions, relationship stress, or major changes like pregnancy or postpartum, and are looking for support that actually helps them feel better. We will work together to find the way that works best for you to foster support and change.

I find that people come to therapy because they are struggling and they want things to change. I often tell my clients that if they could have changed things on their own they would have. There are times when you need help to reach your full potential, that’s where I come in. I help clients work on stopping the negative thinking and beliefs that are attributing to what is keeping them stuck so they can make the transformations they want in their lives.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
