In our work together, you will learn how to relate to yourself and the painful realities of life skillfully. To begin, I'll support you in slowly turning attention inward while remaining grounded and open. From this connected space, we'll inquire into the thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and sensations that color your experience of life. Naturally, unresolved
trauma
and grief will call attention to themselves. We'll meet them together, with genuine curiosity and compassion. Insights emerge both spontaneously and gradually when relating in this way and 'the work' begins to feel more authentic, enjoyable, and healing.

I work most often with individuals who are seeking to gain a better understanding of themselves in order to live their most ideal, comfortable, and fulfilling life. Questions like "Why do I feel this way?", "How do I change this?" or even "Who am I?" are what I hope to help you answer. I believe that major life experiences and relationships with others can significantly impact mental health, so I often focus on themes of attachment and
trauma
, while using techniques from various models to best fit your individual needs. You are the expert on you, so I welcome clients to take the lead.

My ideal client is a teen, adult or couple who is self aware, motivated, and is either curious or committed to doing the work necessary to start their healing journey. They may be someone who has learned a behavior to cope with
trauma
, like substance use or an eating disorder for example, and are discovering that tool is no longer serving them. Perhaps they notice the way they have been living is in alignment with someone else's values rather than their own. My goal as a therapist is to bring to their attention ideas and feedback that provides a new perspective that guides my clients to a more empowered way of life.

If you are a first responder, combat veteran, or ANYONE who struggles with
trauma
, loss, anxiety, ADHD, and you want a therapist who "gets you" and who is skilled and knowledgeable about practical / proven approaches that work or you just want help to feel better and back to living your life again, call me for a free consultation.
Does "getting up and out the door" seem to be a daily struggle? It's 9am and your mind is "so full" with worry and racing thoughts that you can't remember where you put your car keys and you are late for work, again. Your loved one asks you why you snap at them and you wish you had an answer. Maybe memories from a painful loss or traumatic experience still haunt you, even in your sleep. Since you can't sleep maybe you drink a bit more or scroll your phone all night. You stopped going out or socializing because you feel alone even around loved ones. You just want to feel "like yourself" again but forgot what that even means.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
