My training and experience in
Psychodynamic
Psychotherapy, Attachment-Focused Psychotherapy, EMDR, and Hypnotherapy helps us break through old patterns and create deep and lasting change.
My clients and I work together towards healing from trauma and relationship conflict, navigating life transitions, recovering from addiction, and reclaiming wellness from depression, anxiety, ADHD, and burnout. My holistic approach incorporates mind-body-spirit-focused interventions to treat the whole person and it is not uncommon for me to introduce creative expression, breathwork, mindful movement, and meditative exercises in session.

I specialize in
psychodynamic
and depth psychology with an emphasis on dream work.
I am a psychoanalytical psychotherapist. This means we work together from a holistic perspective, with the unconscious and your dreams and your personal life experience, including trauma. I work with clients who no longer want to be limited by their reactive patterns, cultural conditioning, insecure attachment styles and past traumas, helping them to embody new possibilities in life and love. Therapy provides a ritualized setting for a process that encourages the development of the client's intimate awareness of him/herself. We can remobilize the thwarted capacity to give and to receive love.

psychotherapy.
I offer a warm, nonjudgmental environment, specializing in trauma, women's issues, and faith-based counseling. Using cognitive behavioral, narrative,
psychodynamic
and other therapies; understanding things from a family systems, cognitive, and developmental standpoint, we’ll tackle things and make things better.
Sometimes, for any of us, challenges can feel overwhelming or like they “don’t make sense." Often its embarrassing, or even baffling, to realize that life and feelings have gotten messy or out of control. I focus on helping adults to sort out the roots of things: why they feel depressed, anxious, scattered, or overwhelmed. Often its an accumulation of things over time. Sometimes a stage-of-life issue has become too much to navigate. But, knowing the why and what of challenges is only the starting point. Things need to change. I support people to manage better, feel better, and to move forward stronger.

I'm grounded in relational, emotionally focused, and
psychodynamic
theories that explore one's emotions, relationships, personal strengths, and life experiences to promote growth and lasting change.
Accepting New Clients! I am a licensed psychologist with experience treating adults, young adults, athletes, and couples. My approach to therapy is supportive, client-centered and humanistic. I think of my role as facilitating growth, rather than dictating how one should or should not live. I work to be authentic and real with my clients and believe that trust, safety, and a positive therapeutic relationship can lead to meaningful change and wellbeing.

My approach is interactive and
psychodynamic
.
My passion is to help others understand, heal and accept themselves regardless of their life circumstances, and to integrate that new understanding and acceptance into a healthy lifestyle filled with rich relationships. I enjoy working with mature adolescents up to and including the life-embracing "older and wiser" groups. Two main beliefs that have guided me are these: "Nothing happens by accident (there's a reason for everything)", and, "We all have free will (to make our life what it can be). Most of life's challenges are centered around relationship, loss, self-image and lack of an internalized sense of confidence and safety.

I was trained as a generalist and provide treatment informed by
Psychodynamic
Theory, Existentialism, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Buddhist Psychology, and Social Constructionism.
Life is full of surprises. Some are good, and some are painful. The exact details of pain are always unique. Themes I am familiar with include working with survivors of trauma and accumulated hardship, end-of-life preparation, grief, identity, depression, and struggles with intimacy. I enjoy helping individuals grow beyond the hardships of the past and find ways to thrive and live with openness and enthusiasm.

My approach to therapist is heavily influenced by my training and experience with play therapy as well as
psychodynamic
approaches, which allows us to examine old patterns and create effective change.
I have the great privilege to support my clients as they navigate the joys and challenges of childhood through adulthood. My hope is to create an environment where clients feel comfortable, supported and heard as we explore areas such as trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions and other concerns. Client goals can be as unique as they are, and my clients often see themselves deepening relationships, reducing feelings of distress, and gaining a better understanding of themselves.

I use an eclectic mix, often including
psychodynamic
work, in therapy to include the entire person: body, mind and spirit.
Are you ready to make a change? Do you feel like there might be something more for you in this twisty-turny life? Can't quite find the words? It is important that you be at the center of your own healing and transformation, which may incorporate a mix of methods - some of which involve less verbal language and more movement. While many life transitions can include feelings like anxiety and sadness, there's also space for laughter and a sense of fun. You may gain new perspectives on issues that have plagued you for years. This sense of freedom and authenticity can open new possibilities in all areas of your life.

Hello and welcome! My goal in therapy is to help you navigate the challenges you have in life through understanding your past experiences, relational wounds, and current situation. I am also EMDR trained, and integrate Mindfulness, Feminist Theory,
Psychodynamic
, and ACT interventions.
I specialize in working with individuals and couples to explore dating, relationship patterns, attachment, and trauma. I'm especially passionate in supporting the queer community. Together, we work to identify and examine recurring patterns with care and curiosity. In individual work, this can look like exploring your early experiences that informed your attachment style and connecting these patterns to the way you show up or abandon yourself today. In relationship therapy, we bring awareness to the dynamic between partners these individual experiences create to deepen connection, enhance vulnerability, and improve communication.

I use combination of mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, &
psychodynamic
principles to help you better understand yourself & why you experience the feelings you do.
**Currently full - waitlist available** Life satisfaction is most closely correlated to the quality of relationships you have with others & most importantly, the quality of relationship you have with yourself. These can both be improved by better understanding your past & adapting how you respond in the present. Together, we practice new ways of experiencing difficult emotions to make them more manageable & less threatening. We will explore & better understand the stories you hold of who you ARE, who you SHOULD be, & how these formed over time which can result in increased self-understanding & self-compassion.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
