If you are struggling with difficult emotions, you are not alone or broken. You may have also asked yourself, “Who am I?” & “What do I want from life?” Or, perhaps you wrestle with other existential concerns. There is something within you that longs to be expressed; yet this is the part of you that is often hidden beneath your surface. Emotional wounds need to be opened in order to heal and vulnerabilities explored to promote growth and increased satisfaction. I can help you connect to this inner part of yourself to foster healing, growth, and fulfillment by providing a safe, supportive space in which we can explore your concerns.

Imagine you have had the same problem or behavior recycling through your life for months, perhaps years. This could be anything from managing your emotions, accepting how traumatic events have shaped your life, addiction, conflict, how other people treat you/how you treat others, or simply taking ownership. Imagine your goal is to change the circumstance, flip the script on your life and find lasting change. I want to help people who want to learn why things are the way they are and to embrace new skills and tools to manage their lives. I use a combination of practical experience and research based skills to get you there.

This is an incredibly beautiful and complex time to be alive. It is easy for those of us who care deeply to become overwhelmed with all the suffering and chaos that surrounds us. The world needs healers and dreamers now more then ever. If we want to heal the world, then we must first offer that same love to our own hearts. Do you ever get the sense that your symptoms run deeper than surface level? Many people seek out therapy to resolve issues such as stress, difficulties in relationships, and anxiety and depression only to find out that these issues have a deeper root. There is a pathway to healing! In addition to helping clients manage the ups and downs of life, I specialize in trauma and attachment across the lifespan. I use modalities such as play therapy, EMDR, DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and trauma informed yoga to help children, adolescents, and adults heal from the past and develop healthier patterns in the present day.

You’re struggling with past painful experiences impacting your current relationships & preventing you from living life on your terms. Past therapists with traditional, rigid & impersonal approaches were not helpful for you; leaving you feeling that nothing will ever help or change. I believe healing is possible & therapy incorporating an understanding of oppressive systems we navigate can provide a space to heal. Challenging internal messaging rooted in trauma & systems of oppression can help turn off the auto-pilot or get off the merry-go-round to live a life of meaningful choice, authenticity, connection, belonging & joy.

It takes immense bravery and courage to approach the big questions in life. I love my work because I am humbled by the resilience, grace and humor I get to witness as people navigate these big questions. Often, the clients I work with have some difficulty seeing these qualities in themselves due to trauma, family patterns, sociocultural stressors. I want to walk with you to explore the questions leading you to seek therapy and explore the strengths that come with asking those questions while helping you develop strategies to take care of yourself.

I work with clients who know themselves well and have been trying to improve their lives but still find they feel lost, unfulfilled, or in need of change. Many have been working to gain clarity on their childhood experiences and unhealthy patterns in relationships, as well as the places they get stuck, but somehow they keep finding themselves in the same place. If you want to bring greater awareness to what is unconsciously driving you and keeping you stuck, working together may help you to understand yourself and find more contentment. I specialize in self exploration for highly sensitive people, using IFS and Jungian inquiry.

Currently NOT Accepting New CLIENTS- I am licensed in both the state of Colorado and Wyoming. I am offering both in-person and telehealth. My passion in my practice is to focus on the systemic perspective, meaning I focus on what is going on in your environment rather than focusing on a diagnosis or an issue. I look at how our environment is structured and functioning and how that is influencing you. The more we can incorporate those within your system the better we will be in creating a plan for you to be successful in implementing the changes that you are wanting to make.

Reaching out and allowing somebody to help you sort through pain can be an intimidating process. I understand the courage it takes and because of this I believe in building a strong relationship based on trust. Not every therapist is a good match and I want to respect your time and finances. I offer a free 30-minute consultation to see what it would be like to work together. My goal is to provide a safe space for your story and to help you achieve healthy relationships and self-worth. I would be honored to be part of your healing process.

Even though emotional safety and sexual connection are important parts of every relationship, people are not always taught the skills for creating healthy communication on these subjects. You may have found yourself on this website, hoping someone can teach you this elusive skill. My training and passion for helping partnerships grow in this way may be exactly what you're looking for! Together, we will open the vitally important dialogue around sex/sexuality, practice using new vocabulary around needs, and celebrate a new way of understanding desires, fantasies, and pleasure.

Open Relationships Non-Monogamy Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a therapist specializing in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
A client seeking help with an open or consensually non-monogamous relationship will prefer to talk with a professional whom they can count on to be nonjudgmental. Talking with a supportive therapist may on its own help relieve some of the stigma and challenges partners face. That said, the most important factor in the success of any type of therapy is the ability of the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond. For this reason, an individual or couple could find success with a therapist who does not specialize in non-monogamous relationships but with whom they can build trust.
When should open or consensually non-monogamous partners seek counseling?
Like other couples, polyamorous partners typically seek counseling when they face relationship challenges they can’t solve themselves. In non-monogamous relationships, this could include breaches of trust, including infidelity; unclear rules or violations of boundaries; jealousy of outside partners; the stress of juggling the needs of multiple partners; or the effect of high partner turnover on children. Like those of other couples, polyamorous bonds can be threatened by increasingly frequent arguments, poor or dysfunctional communication, diminished emotional or physical intimacy, or the feeling that something is wrong, even if they don’t know what it is.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
No, but individuals seeking help with non-monogamous relationships would most likely consult a licensed professional with specific training in couples counseling or couples therapy. Couples counseling and couples therapy both involve teaching concrete strategies to navigate conflict in relationships. A good therapist can engage both partners as they explain these approaches but can also work with a single partner.
How long does therapy for consensually non-monogamous couples typically last?
Couples therapy for any type of couple, tends to be relatively time-limited, lasting around 12 weeks on average. A good therapist will tailor sessions to the individual partners’ emotions and sometimes their past, along with patterns found to be repeating in the relationship. In many cases, clients should expect their therapist to assign “homework” between weekly sessions.
