As a queer therapist, my number one priority is to help you feel that your identity is respected and seen by those around you.
Feeling authentically connected within our community and family is at the core of the human experience. For this reason feeling disconnected from those around you can be intensely painful. As your therapist, I can help you build tools to reconnect with those who mean the most to you. I am particularly experienced in working with people who are queer , have ASD or ADHD, and couples in conflict. Whether you are seeking safety and belonging as a queer person, wanting to establish sexual connection with partners, or forging new patterns of connection with friends and family, I will walk with you on your journey towards a life of meaning.

Discovering and disclosing your identity can be anxiety provoking. I partner with folks to navigate this journey including LGBTQIA +, Transgender , Faith Transitions, and Ex Mormon communities. Perhaps you've had questions about your identity your entire life that you've kept in the back of your mind. Or maybe some article or video just sparked something for you now. Not feeling trans enough? Can't wait to transition? It can feel daunting task to contemplate coming out. It can feel even more rewarding to live in a way that feels free and happy. I can't wait to see you happy and at peace.

I specialize in working with folks who are building their families, the LGBTQ + communities, medical professionals, families and intimate relationships.
It takes immense bravery and courage to approach the big questions in life. I love my work because I am humbled by the resilience, grace and humor I get to witness as people navigate these big questions. Often, the clients I work with have some difficulty seeing these qualities in themselves due to trauma, family patterns, sociocultural stressors. I want to walk with you to explore the questions leading you to seek therapy and explore the strengths that come with asking those questions while helping you develop strategies to take care of yourself.

Sometimes the state of our world can feel so scary and heartbreaking that we feel immobilized. Much of our potential is blocked by feeling overwhelmed by the day to day challenge of struggling to advocate for ourselves in our communities, the world, even in our own thoughts and beliefs! It is easy to feel anxious, alone and simultaneously at war with ourselves. I emphasize serving individuals that experience marginalized identities and see myself as your co-conspirator. I work with issues of identity and non-normative experiences, in the context of gender, sexuality as well as queer experience beyond that framework

As a queer therapist of color, I recognize there is no “right” way to live one’s life & each person has a right & need to be seen & heard at the authentic level.
Hey There! I believe that every thought, emotion, and behavior that a person entertains is actively shaping their current reality. I view our therapeutic relationship as a partnership. You & I will define your intentions for therapy and create active goals to shift patterns. I have always had a strong calling to support others. I believe that people can learn to accept, love, and claim authenticity by moving away from patterns that are no longer serving the individual, by actively exploring their unique interests & evolving needs. I respect and acknowledge all relationship styles & sexual identities. My goal is to hold space.

I use strength-based and evidence-based approaches and work with LGBTQ +, foster youth, and immigrants/refugees.
“I hate school. I have no friends. My parents don’t get me. I’m always in trouble. I can’t do anything right. Life just sucks.” Every morning you put on a mask just to get through your day. No one understands what you are going through, and you feel alone in the world. Maybe you can’t remember the last time you truly felt happy or yourself. Or, something bad happened, and your memories continue to hold you captive. You want to feel better, but you’re scared to let someone into the dark places. Parents, you see your child’s pain and all you want for them is to be happy. You want your care-free kid back.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
