She sees adolescents (13-17), young adults, adults, and seniors for individual and group therapy.
Sometimes life's twists and turns lead us down unexpected paths and we eventually find ourselves in a place where we no longer recognize ourselves or we feel utterly lost and confused about how to proceed. Finding ourselves again or the path forward can prove to be a long, painful and arduous process, which can feel especially isolating and scary. Having a counselor to guide and support you through the process can help in many ways and I'd love to provide that for you.

I believe that all humans have greatness within themselves; it's important to work with a therapist who sees yours (even if you or others do not). I work well with young adults to seniors who are leery about seeking help, feel coaxed in to counseling, or who have had bad experiences in the past. I strive to make you feel comfortable so you can be honest with me - and yourself - about your problems, mood complaints, or substance use. Others tell me they immediately sense my genuineness and non-judgmental character.

I am a believer in healing and helping. I have made it my mission in life to assist in healing the lives of others as a part of my individual journey. It can be a cold world out there and a world that can easily get us humans down, leading to tremendous pain and suffering. At the same time, the world can be beautiful, inspiring, rewarding, and meaningful. My goal is to help you navigate your path in our complicated world and help you find where you belong and achieve the life that is waiting for you. Together, with your willingness, we can get there and the world will benefit as such.

I view counseling as a dynamic process between a client and therapist. My theoretical orientation is dependent upon what would be most appropriate for the client. I view each client as unique and I use techniques that are designed to meet that client's specific needs. I listen carefully to my clients so that I can empower, confront when appropriate, teach, encourage, and guide them so they can grow emotionally, spiritually, psychologically and socially. I respect the clients I work with. I want people to participate in a healing process without fear that they will be judged or coerced.

Come, let's sit and chat where you can be heard and seen. "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired." - (Fannie Lou Hamer) ... "I want to feel like I am enough." ... "I don't have any hope." ... "I don't know what to do to feel better." ... These are just a few things I've heard in my career. If this sounds like you, then I'd be happy to walk alongside you in your journey. There are many injustices, microaggressions, and systemic issues that oppress individuals and families, causing anxiety, trauma, and family conflict. Although this can impact your day-to-day life, there is hope and healing available to you.

Hi! I look forward to meeting you. During these unprecedented times, it can be much easier to feel isolated, depressed, or anxious. Talking with someone about these feelings takes strength and vulnerability. I hope to provide a safe place for you to explore feelings associated with stress, addiction, anxiety, depression, anger, hopelessness, recovery, relationships, PTSD, new or past trauma, and much more. Many people feel isolated and alone right now, seeking connection and attempting to make sense of the world we live in today. If this is something you are struggling with, please know you are not alone.

The modern world offers us many techniques and strategies designed to increase our sense of purpose, connectivity and overall happiness. However, a vast majority of these suggestions never truly stick. The various patterns we’ve accumulated through the course of our lives continue to plague us and pull us into disordered and repetitive actions that hinder our ability to access the joy and meaning that we seek. Fortunately, there is a way out of this cycle. With love, humility, understanding and courage, we can work together to help you reclaim your goodness, vitality and freedom. Remember: it's never too late to change your life.

What if we as people (and all of our parts) are intrinsically good? What if even our suffering has something kind and wise that it’s trying to say, and all we have to do is listen? With this notion that we could “become friends” with the pain in our hearts and minds and access this intrinsic goodness, I aim to empower my clients to embrace their tenderness and to discover the beauty and brilliance of their authentic selves.

How can I find a therapist in Fort Collins?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
