In my view, these processes occur through a strong therapeutic
relationship
between a client and counselor, which I hope to help build.
Do you feel on edge or overwhelmed? I know how it feels to be anxious, your chest tightens, your heart pounds, nothing you do seems to slow your thoughts. Do you feel sad, lacking hope? Maybe you can't find the energy to do the things that once brought you joy. I don't want you to feel these ways any longer. I help people who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma heal and grow. A client-centered approach to counseling has been shown to help reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. I will help you make meaning of what is going on in your life. I am eager to help you take steps toward coping with these symptoms

I believe working toward relational and sexual satisfaction starts with uncovering the current patterns and dynamics that are showing up in
relationship
.
I see humans as being complex creatures who carry lots of context for their behaviors. Often, harmful dynamics in relationships are a side-effect of old, learned behavior. Whether it be an affair, toxic communication, or fear/apathy around sex, we will put a pin in the frustrating behavior together and instead dig into and heal the causes of the behavior. I am a good fit for you if you are willing to have unhelpful behaviors challenged in safe and constructive ways. My ideal clients are excited to learn about new opportunities for growth and change, while maintaining the parts of your story that bring pride and comfort

In all this WE WANT TO FEEL BETTER! Counseling offers a private, confidential space to get help. It is an honor to listen and join in your life story. I work with adults/

Life creates many obstacles and we do our best to provide balance in our lives. Families can be in need of more efficient structure and boundaries.
Couples
experience hurt and difficulties when attempting to communicate feelings and work through yesterday and today's problems. Individuals may find life difficult to manage when struggling with anxiety, depression, and/or mental illnesses. In addition, other
relationship
challenges, transitions, and past trauma can make finding balance even more difficult.

When any 1 or more of these is stressful or out of balance, symptoms occur or worsen. Uncomfortable feelings of transition/change, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, internal or external conflict, feeling hopeless or stuck or angry, or alone, without support or solutions. The list goes on. It is my Mission to help you to feel rapid relief and to facilitate healing/change.

relationship
conflicts, body image/self esteem, parenting, and life transitions.
Sometimes the best transitions in life can also be the hardest. Sometimes things don't go as planned and our vision of how things could be is drastically different from our reality. I view my role as collaborative and through a relational focus, with evidence based interventions I work with individuals and
couples
to explore areas of struggle.
My ideal client is someone who is open to working to understand themselves, their world, and their place in it differently. Often times, throughout life, we feel as though there are ways that we "should" or "need to" think, act, feel, and believe. My ideal clients are folks who are willing to look inward to examine these ideas, and whether or not they fit the life they actually want to live. For people who feel out of place in their own lives I hope to be a person that helps them to make sense of things and make the tweaks necessary to enjoy a different measure of fulfillment in life.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
