Seeing a therapist is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and the people in your life. In therapy, we will focus on what YOU need: for example, working on
anger
, talking about painful experiences for the first time, navigating a difficult relationship, or what you're going through right now. And if you're not sure what you need, that's okay...we'll figure that out together. I use Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness practices, and Existential Therapy, and I am most experienced working on anxiety, depression, PTSD,
anger
, and healthy communication in relationships.

Counseling since 2002, I have experience with adults/couples/families/teens and children dealing with anxiety, depression,
anger
, adoption, communication, marital issues, PTSD, grief and loss, parenting, blended families, divorce, sexuality, and adjusting to life changes.
***Schedule full. Not accepting new clients at this time*** Life can be complicated for different reasons. Sometimes more support can help. At any age, life can be overwhelming, negative behaviors can persist, relationships trapped in hurtful patterns, or inner worlds caught in negative thinking which stretch our coping, and cause stress. In all this WE WANT TO FEEL BETTER! Counseling offers a private, confidential space to get help. It is an honor to listen and join in your life story. I work with adults/couples/families/teens and children, listening to your goals to bring balance, health, wellness, peace and more happiness.

I can help you tackle issues, such as work stress, depression, sexual problems, or
anger
and accomplish goals for building on your strengths.
I have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, as well as other disorders. However, I take a relational perspective and don't define people by their symptoms. Stress, anxiety, depression, illness, can get in the way of the relationships we want. Even positive aspects of life, such as parenthood, education, and work can be obstacles to finding and maintaining close connection with others. I can help you learn to communicate more effectively, or get a handle on the anxiety or
anger
that hangs over everything you want to accomplish.

My specialties include and are not limited to issues around parenting, infidelity, relational conflict, anxiety, trauma,
anger management
, and depression.
Life creates many obstacles and we do our best to provide balance in our lives. Families can be in need of more efficient structure and boundaries. Couples experience hurt and difficulties when attempting to communicate feelings and work through yesterday and today's problems. Individuals may find life difficult to manage when struggling with anxiety, depression, and/or mental illnesses. In addition, other relationship challenges, transitions, and past trauma can make finding balance even more difficult.

Child and Adult Trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, codependency, conflict and
anger management
, low self esteem and lack of confidence.
Hello! My name is Suzanne and I have been working with clients for over 30 years, facilitating self exploration skills, passion in life, and building self esteem! We will address thoughts and feelings; some of which may be faulty and were formed from early childhood. We will learn how our reactions can be based on "learned intuitive behaviors," which then cause "fight, flight, and freeze responses." We will develop positive skills to conquer these reactions, for a healthy sense of self confidence, happiness, and personal strength. It's time to love yourself and live to your fullest potential, happy and passionate about life!

I help people who have tried lots of things to feel better, but are still having trouble making changes. If you struggle with any of the following, I can help: feeling like your emotions overwhelm you, frequent ups and downs in your relationships, problems with
anger
, addictive or compulsive behavior, self-harm, feelings of hopelessness or depression, and the after-effects of trauma. These struggles do not have to be a part of your life forever. I provide compassionate and effective therapy that will help you learn new skills and launch you in the direction you want to be moving.

I work with clients who live with intense emotions, debilitating depression, immense anxiety,
anger
, trauma, or the urge to avoid feeling all together. For many this can lead to unrelenting crisis, self invalidation, being hijacked by emotions, impact relationships, and reinforce behaviors that are not in line with the life they want. I create a space to support clients with non-judgmentally looking at their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that prompt suffering and inhibit access to long term goals. I support clients with recognizing the function of these behaviors, thoughts, and emotions that prompt pain and help find resolution.

anger
, etc. I work with individuals of all ages, as well as couples and families, and those who are skeptical about whether counseling can help are definitely welcome. I know therapy truly makes a difference if people are willing to try!

My teacher Brene Brown has said, "Owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing we will ever do." As a Psychologist with 35 + years in practice, I continue to study discoveries in neuroscience and human behavior, and while I'm glad of that, what I know is that counseling is about talking through the hard stuff - shame, blame, fear,
anger
, criticism, grief, forgiveness, and all the rest. Tell me your story in all of its messiness, and let's figure out what's to be done about it. I welcome adults 18 and up struggling with most of what life dishes up. I promise to be candid and compassionate.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” –Maya Angelou. Sometimes life deals you a million little paper-cuts, relationships are challenging, our coping mechanisms aren’t helping, and we find ourselves disillusioned and disconnected. You may be dealing with a difficult or destructive marriage,
anger
and resentment, hurt from the church, relentless anxiety, unprocessed grief, feeling like you're trapped, or struggling with unspoken shadows of the past. Relational conflict feels like a never-ending cycle and you're beginning to wonder if it will ever get better.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
