I specialize in adults and teens with trauma with a specific focus on Complex PTSD. I also work with couples suffering from intimacy issues. I work with individuals suffering from anxiety and depression as well. My approach to therapy is to be honest and forward while promoting this in my clients. I believe a non-judgmental environment is very important. My clients like that I am blunt and confrontational in therapy, avoiding trite therapy terms and tailoring sessions to clients' specific needs. I use many different techniques and theories in my practice, though I tend to stay myself in session to remain real and honest.
Most of my career has focused on working with adults and teens, specifically dealing with ADHD, trauma, healthy sexuality, and anxiety. My couples work focuses on intimacy, shared trauma, and sexual issues- working to improve communication to heal relationships. My doctoral work focuses on treating Complex PTSD, and I am an EMDRIA trained EMDR practitioner.
Therapy is difficult, and sometimes it takes the right time and person to make it work. I believe by identifying individual strengths, families and individuals may be empowered to grow in a positive direction. Although I believe that our culture is widely over-medicated, I work closely with medical providers to ensure comprehensive treatment.
