I specialize in working with people who are experiencing anxiety, suicidality, PTSD, and Bipolar.
I'm here to walk alongside you on your healing journey, not to "fix" you. In our sessions, you can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach as we work together to uncover the root causes of your concerns. I value authenticity and transparency, and will strive to build trust so that you can fully engage in the process. My goal is for you to feel welcome, comfortable, and safe in a space where vulnerability is essential as we explore your inner world. And along the way, we might even share a few laughs.

I help youth and adults look at experiences and relationships that may hold pain or trauma in their lives.
If you only take the time to read the first paragraph of my bio, here’s what I want to tell you: There’s nothing inherently “wrong” about who you are, it’s ok that you needed to do what you’ve done to survive and there is positive intention behind any behavior. If you don’t believe those things right now but you want to, that’s where I can help. My purpose as a counselor is to create a space where you feel comfortable to be real, become active in your healing and confident in determining what lasting change looks like for you.

This stress can look like wounds from past experiences, ongoing trauma, societal challenges, or maybe feeling like there is too much to handle on your plate.
I show up to sessions with warmth, curiosity, and compassion. It is important to me that the therapeutic space feels collaborative and individualized to you. I enjoy drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Poly-Vagal Theory, yoga, and other somatic (body-oriented) approaches. I am trained in EMDR therapy and introduce this modality, when appropriate.

I've been trained in treating individuals to support with issues that include: communication, trauma, anxiety, boundaries, relationship dynamics, and attachment styles.
Therapy can be a place to work through difficult emotions and to break inefficient habits or patterns. I'm committed to providing affirmative therapy with all clients. I'm casual, friendly, biracial (Japanese and white), like to give feedback in a clear manner, and I tend to laugh often. When it's appropriate, I share information based on research, history, or theory to challenge and clarify what's keeping you stuck.

I work with individuals and couples to identify and heal relational disconnection, conflict, trauma, hurts from the past that linger, and challenges in communicating.
When you are struggling to move past conflicts or getting stuck in all-too-familiar patterns, there should be something so direct, personal, and real about what you discover and practice in therapy that it should dramatically change how you think, feel, and act with others. Therapy should captivate and transform you. That's my specialty. Yet, even though therapy is serious work, there should be room for play: for trying things on, for practice, for being human. As a couple and family therapist I care about the quality of your relationships. My approach? Connecting. Pragmatic. Thorough. Creative.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
