I work with adults and couples and/or non-monogamous relationships, navigating disconnection from themselves, their partner(s), or their sense of identity. Some are healing from relational or cultural trauma, processing infidelity, deconstructing internalized shame, or working through anxiety around sex, intimacy, or performance. They’re not just looking for surface-level fixes; they want to feel more emotionally present, self-confident, sexually empowered, and grounded in who they are. I support them in gently exploring their inner worlds and relational patterns so they can show up more fully in life and in love.

Healing is a process of transformation—one that unfolds over time and honors each person’s lived experience. I believe we all need a brave, supportive space to feel seen, heard, and able to show up authentically without fear of shame or judgment. My goal is to create that environment so you can explore what has shaped you, reconnect with your sense of self-worth, and move toward a life that feels meaningful and aligned with your core values.

We are happy that you are here, and we hope that we will get to walk alongside you for this portion of your life! While we cannot change the past, or sometimes the external stressors of our present lives, we can impact our trajectory going forward. And here at KCAPS, we believe in supporting people to do just that. Together we may move between past, present, and future... healing, recovering, processing, liberating, exploring, problem-solving, building, empowering, etc depending on your goals and your needs.

I identify as a Togolese immigrant, daughter, sister, fur-mom, and wife in an interracial marriage. These identities influence how I show up as a therapist and constantly evolve each day. The challenges I have faced have given me both the insight and desire to work with individuals, couples, and families through their hurdles and to help them find what is and isn’t their story. I believe in the idea of assisting individuals, couples & families of different backgrounds to find their path instead of feeling stuck and tied down to societal expectations or their past maladaptive patterns.

Are you going through an unending loop of struggle? Perhaps your relationship has devolved from a happy and satisfying love story to a disappointing, distant arrangement. How long can you endure this? Research indicates couples suffer for too long and often wait six years or more to seek professional help for their unhappiness. Career setbacks, illnesses, substance use, and unhealed trauma pummel ones heart and our relationships. It is no wonder people lose their way. It can seem impossible to get past criticism, pain, and years of not showing up as your best self. Are you missing self-love or meaningful relationships?

Every human being deserves a safe, non-judgmental space to process life’s challenges, experience validation, and find healing. You may be struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or disconnected. My goal is to create an environment where you feel truly heard and understood as we work together toward self-discovery, awareness, and growth. I work alongside my mini goldendoodle Ellie to create a supportive, calming space where you can process life events, regain safety, and develop the tools to move forward with confidence and resilience. You don't have to navigate this journey alone.

I have a passion for serving marginalized communities, which has been driving factor for why I joined the mental health field. I'm passionate about working with BIPOC/LGBTQIA as well as supporting folks in recovery from SUD related issues. Considering the stress of the world we live in, I recognize the value of creating a truly safe space. I'm also passionate about helping people achieve liberation from the impact of any form of trauma. There's something satisfying about helping people heal and in turn break free from the loops of dysfunction unaddressed trauma perpetuates.

Adults struggling with anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, or substance use often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure how to move forward. They want relief, understanding, and the kind of insight that many years of life experience can bring. They seek a safe, compassionate space to process emotions, build resilience, and restore balance, so they can manage stress, navigate life transitions, and feel more confident, grounded, and capable each day.

I provide psychotherapy and counseling to adults, couples and families, and have extensive training in couples work and grief therapy (including traumatic loss and loss after a suicide). I draw primarily from a Psychodynamic approach to therapy but have training in a variety of modalities, including EMDR and Brainspotting, specialized grief therapy, DBT, family systems, IFS, trauma therapy, and Imago couples therapy, so as to be able to meet my clients where they are and with what might best attend to their issues.

FAQ - Black and African American Counselling
As an African American, why might I wish to see a therapist who is African American?
Working with an African American therapist can often mean that you start from a place of shared understanding with a therapist rather than having to explain your experience from scratch. A therapist who shares your racial identity is more likely to understand the specific pressures shaping your mental health, including navigating racism, cultural identity, and the overall experience of being Black in the United States. They are also more likely to understand the role that family, community, and cultural expectations play in your life without requiring a lengthy explanation. This shared foundation can create a greater sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship and make it easier to open up at the start of therapy.

Are there Black therapists who specialize in working with Black men or Black women?
Yes, many Black therapists have specific experience working with Black men or Black women. While therapists who work with Black clients broadly address concerns relevant to all genders, like anxiety or depression, those with a gender-specific focus are equipped to work with you on the particular ways that race and gender may intersect. For example, some therapists may specialize in working with Black women on topics like body image or maternal mental health, while other therapists may work with Black men on topics such as relationships or masculinity.

Do Black therapists offer marriage and couples counseling?
Yes, many Black therapists are trained in couples and marriage counseling and can work with partners navigating a wide range of relationship challenges. Therapists who identify as Black may have a better understanding of the cultural dynamics surrounding marriage, family roles, and conflict that are specific to African American communities and can work with you and your partner without making assumptions about your background.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with Black clients?
The initial consultation, which is typically a brief phone or video call, is the right time to raise a therapist’s experience working with Black clients. You can ask specific questions, such as "Do you have experience working with Black clients?" or more broad questions, such as "How do you approach cultural identity in your practice?". During the initial consultation, you can also ask whether they have undertaken training in cultural competence and how they would handle a situation where a cultural misunderstanding arose in therapy. A therapist who responds to these questions thoughtfully and without defensiveness is a good sign they are equipped to work with you effectively.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of Black therapists?
The directory of Black therapists includes therapists who have self-identified their ethnicity in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist who can provide a cultural match. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their ethnicity in their profile, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. In situations where the number of therapists who have identified as Black is limited, the directory will also show therapists who have undergone specific multicultural training or have extensive experience working with clients from relevant cultural backgrounds.
