Perhaps you are here in Colorado surrounded by beauty and a vibrant community that is always seeking the next best thing. It can be an intimidating process to find your purpose and make your mark especially when you’re not feeling like yourself. “I know where I want to be in life, but just can’t seem to get there... Will therapy even work for me?... I feel like a piece of the puzzle is missing, now what?... I’m running out of time to change... I don’t know who to trust.” Fear, Doubt, and Shame like to interfere with our pursuit of self-improvement, introducing thoughts like these to keep us isolated and uncertain.

Do you find yourself overthinking, feeling like nothing you do is ever quite enough? Or maybe you're constantly putting others first, leaving you feeling drained and disconnected from yourself? I work with people who describe themselves as perfectionists, high achievers, and people-pleasers. Those closest to you might describe you as dependable, driven, considerate of others, and completely put together — great qualities that can also come with hidden costs of feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and empty.

Weary from the relentless pace of modern life? Feeling disconnected from loved ones or yourself? Struggling to find your place, purpose, or passion? I work with clients to help them develop self-understanding and acceptance, strengthen their relationships, and align their behavior with their values. In a fast-paced, overstimulating world, it can be challenging to articulate our own wants, needs, goals, and dreams. It can be hard to develop deep and meaningful relationships. I aim to hold space for clients to become who they want to be, personally, in relationships, and out in the world.

I believe that therapeutic listening can support us as humans to clarify our own intentions and hear our truth. Modern external life challenges like relationships, balancing career and family, and unforeseen hurdles can leave us unbalanced and disconnected. My ideal client is looking for a beacon within themselves that I hope to shine a light to bring back to center. As a mother, entrepreneur and self-starter of many fulfilling endeavors, realizing that the grounded connection to our own inner voice is fundamental in generating a meaningful life also plays a role in what I bring to the table as a mentor, champion and resource.

The start of something new is filled with excitement, fear, hesitation, and a variety of other emotions that can influence whether we try again the next day. Therapy is no different. Whether it's beginning again, beginning anew, or simply beginning somewhere, the idea of therapy may stir up unfamiliar feelings. But when our emotions and relationships are a source of pain rather than support, we are left wondering if and how things can change. Seeing a therapist takes courage and you have taken the first step towards this change. My specialties include relationship counseling, boundaries, self esteem, grief, anxiety, & depression.

We are all becoming. Becoming more confident, more weighed down by the stressors of life and our relationships, more independent, and more unsure of our identity or place in the world. And the most confusing part: all of those ‘becomings’ are happening at the same time. How are we able to celebrate the joys in our worlds while feeling tied to pressures that are both external to us and internal, hitting close to vulnerable wounds? Welcome to Becoming Therapy Services. By engaging in open and collaborative dialogue, we will use tools to help discover the stories that deserve a voice and parts of you that exist beyond the surface.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
