My therapy style is person-centered utilizing evidence-based therapies such as
EMDR
for trauma, behavioral change, unregulated emotions, ruminating thoughts and unresolved issues that trigger negative present day reactions.
Many clients are confused and unsure where to begin on their path for change. Unresolved trauma, grief, guilt, abuse, negative memories, abandonment, betrayal by friends or family can create low self-esteem, unregulated emotions, relational issues, self-isolation, fear of trusting others or being hurt, loneliness, self-harm, feeling burdened by self, suicide ideation, addictive behavior to mask pain, depression, anxiety, co-dependency. I have often helped clients gain self-compassion, love, respect, clarity and confidence with the understanding it takes time and patience. I offer a warm, accepting approach in a pleasing safe space.

EMDR
is a type of therapy that helps to "rewire" your brain.
You've heard of PTSD. You think you might have it. You don't know what to do about it. Your sleep is an issue because you have nightmares. Even when you don't have nightmares, you don't feel rested in the morning. You avoid pieces and parts of your life because you fear being triggered by past trauma. When the stress increases in your life, you notice higher anxiety and scarier thoughts. You want to let go of the abuse and trauma of the past. Maybe you've heard about
EMDR
, but you don't know where to start. When you're ready to deal with trauma, you want to start as soon as possible.

I incorporate evidence-based treatments, such as DBT, CBT, and
EMDR
, but always relating them back to the unique needs, goals and perspectives of each individual.
Has the life you’ve been living grown too small for you and you’re looking for change? Maybe you’ve been dealing with anxiety or depression or relationship issues or some loss or change that you just can’t adjust to. Or maybe it feels larger: an elusive spiritual or existential question. If you are needing clarity, growth, inspiration, greater inner and outer freedom, we can explore what needs nurturing in you, and - with compassionate attention, openness, and humor - I can help you find the tools you need to cope with your struggles and develop a more authentic and rewarding experience of your life.

I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (
EMDR

I believe that we each have what it takes to move forward and succeed in life. Sometimes things happen to us beyond our control. Other times, we simply get in our own way. I've experienced both of these situations in my life, and I believe I can help you respond to life in a way that moves you forward in the direction you want to go. The type of therapy I practice, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) provides the framework for how to live your best life. ACT's principles provide a new approach to life, a way of being in the world. I learned them as a client years ago, and I still practice them everyday in my own life.

I am passionate about Recovery (from whatever addiction/s) using
EMDR
and Mindfulness to Remember who we are and rebuild relationships (self first). In my own life of Recovery, I have found that healing from addictions means healing from our early traumas. In the process of recovery, there is much work to be done and I believe the foundation is healing the relationship with one's self. Becoming the trusted, beloved, compassionate adult; for ourselves. I am devoted and dedicated to cultivating this relationship and, like a pebble into a pond, the ripple affect flows outward to touch all of our relationships.

Therapy is becoming more normalized in a way that it wasn’t for your parents or grandparents. This is an opportunity to explore your own wants/needs, boundaries and personal values that drive your life daily. I focus on three main modalities of mindfulness, somatic experiencing and
EMDR
. I start every session with a 5-10min mindfulness meditation. Secondly, somatic experiencing is feeling your emotions through physical sensations. Lastly I am trained in
EMDR
which can be helpful for a range of symptoms from anxiety, depression to PTSD. I also offer psychedelic/ entheogens intention setting and/or integration therapy.

EMDR Therapists
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an information processing therapy that helps clients cope with trauma, addictions, and phobias. During this treatment, the patient focuses on a specific thought, image, emotion, or sensation while simultaneously watching the therapist's finger or baton move in front of his or her eyes. The client is told to recognize what comes up for him/her when thinking of an image; then the client is told to let it go while doing bilateral stimulation.
