I work with individuals and
couples
in releasing trauma in skillful ways, and creating the radical and scandalous possibility of creativity, fulfillment, and hope.
My ideal client is frustrated, angry, in despair. Life hasn’t worked out the way it was supposed to. (S)he lost herself somewhere long ago, left herself behind. Relationships are hard; those recurring patterns and reactive behavior keep interfering with connection, and self-esteem, and contentment, and vitality, and... A malaise has settled, along with a darkness. This inevitably leads to anxiety, depression, isolation, addiction, and despair. My clients know there must be more. But, where to begin? How to start?

I believe in creating a safe emotional space for healing and growth. I believe that growth and healing is within the client. I am here to help guide that growth through empowerment, various techniques and the bond that is established in the
relationship
. I believe that empathy, humor and honesty are essential to healing. Sometimes we feel blocked or held back in our life due to depression, trauma,
relationship
problems, limiting beliefs, or we just feel as though we are not achieving our full potential. I believe that not one technique works all the time and that a combination of various techniques is valuable.

If I sound like a good fit for you individually or within your
relationship
, please feel free to reach out and request an appointment or a 15-minute phone consultation.
I have always been pulled towards topics that many in society do not want to talk about – sex, death, money, religion, addiction, and many others. I have seen what happens to individuals when they are left to struggle with these topics alone. Some feel guilt, fear, anxiety, depression, or just an overall sense that they are not allowed to be who they really are. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe space for individuals or those in
relationship
to talk about these topics and feelings. I work with them to develop the tools to grow into being confident, unashamed, and authentically themselves.

I am able to modify/cater to the specific needs of the person I am working with to collaborate on a
relationship
and plan that will support your personal goals and healing in a meaningful and impactful way.
I am passionate about Recovery (from whatever addiction/s) using EMDR and Mindfulness to Remember who we are and rebuild relationships (self first). In my own life of Recovery, I have found that healing from addictions means healing from our early traumas. In the process of recovery, there is much work to be done and I believe the foundation is healing the
relationship
with one's self. Becoming the trusted, beloved, compassionate adult; for ourselves. I am devoted and dedicated to cultivating this
relationship
and, like a pebble into a pond, the ripple affect flows outward to touch all of our relationships.

My approach supports building a meaningful
relationship
with your inner world. My doctoral training is in Jungian psychology—the study of self-awareness through the exploration of the unconscious. This perspective is about extending inward and downward—seeking what’s below the surface. Together, we’ll explore how past and present experiences shape your sense of self, face suffering and challenges with curiosity, examine what might be stalling your ability to be influenced from within, identify unconscious dynamics, and uncover the messages in your dreams and symptoms.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
