I believe this and being a therapist have prepared me to work with my fellow veterans and 1st responders.
More and more people are having trouble knowing who they are or where they belong in life. What we were taught growing up or what we learn from society doesn't make sense or apply any longer. Because of this, we have difficulties from depression to questioning our own belief system. It may appear as confusion, anxiety, anger, or anything that disrupts our day-to-day life. When we feel this way it is a hurt or loss that is almost impossible to describe. My type of counseling presents people with an opportunity to understand why and how they think and feel the way they do and to go deeper than they could have imagined possible.

My training is specialized in working through traumatic events, anxiety and depressive disorders with medical and healthcare providers and students, military service members, and the general population using CBT, EMDR, and body-mind/mindfulness principles.
I believe each of us has a unique inner light. However, some experiences we walk through over the course of our lives can progressively dull that light until we struggle finding our joy. I work with clients to identify and understand how past events in their lives may be influencing their current distress levels and to learn new ways of thinking and feeling about these events, accepting with love and integrating these new beliefs for a more body/mind experience.

My background as a military veteran fuels my commitment to trauma-informed approaches.
Each of us experiences moments in life when we are not sure what path to take. We may feel disconnected from our values, distant from those we most want to be close to, and out of balance in our daily rhythm. In the midst of overwhelm, we know something needs to change yet we may not easily see what that is. It may also be that we know what we want to change but we encounter challenges from others or from seemingly immovable obstacles in our world. At times like these, we need a wingman; someone who knows how to help us utilize our strengths so we can chart a course toward what matters most. I would be honored to be your wingman.

*I AM CURRENTLY PROVIDING BOTH VIDEO AND IN-PERSON SESSIONS* I approach therapy through building a foundation of an unconditionally supportive, non-judgmental, and empathic relationship. I can help you pursue the quality of your life, in relationship with yourself and others, that you want. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we identify your goals for your therapy, partly through getting clarity about your values, and then our treatment will facilitate the development of insight into why you feel as you do, and new ways of thinking and being that will contribute to cultivating the life you want.

I received my certification in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), another evidence-based trauma treatment from the Office of Veterans Affairs.
Welcome! I believe that therapy is an experience in which we will work together, rather than one in which a clinician treats a patient. While the methods I use are evidence-based, my approach is heart-centered and mindful. Whether you are wanting help with anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, addiction, divorce/end of a relationship, or overcoming a block in your personal growth, you are in the right place. I practice EMDR Therapy and received my EMDR Training from the Maiberger Institute, an EMDRIA approved provider of EMDR Trainings.

As a woman with an extensive military lifestyle background, I have grown to see and appreciate many facets of various cultures, systems, and identities.
Finding a therapist you connect with can be especially challenging when already feeling disconnected from yourself and from those around you. I have found that a validating, non-judgmental, and genuine therapeutic relationship with clients is the first and mightiest step towards healing. I work with often misunderstood men, women, and teens to help improve self-esteem, explore the impacts of trauma, navigate relationships, and to move forward with less weight on their shoulders. The soul of my work is to help identify the root of the struggle so we can laugh and cry to coping, healing, and resilience.

Hi! I am a bilingual therapist with over 20 years of experience. In 2000, I finished my Counseling education at Arizona State University. For the first few years, I worked in an in-patient mental health facility. Over time, I was more drawn to outpatient work and began starting my own Private Practice in 2006 called Life Transitions Counseling. Recently, I have spent time traveling the world working as a Military Family Life Counselor, aiding in the mental health care of our service members and their family members.

I specialize in working with adolescent females, and LGBTQIA-identified clients and their families who are often times involved in the juvenile justice system and child welfare. I also work with female and LGBTQIA military personnel and veterans . Working with these systems has afforded me the opportunity to build my skills so that I am very proficient in many areas, such as trauma and PTSD, adoption, permanency, military personnel, and addiction concerns. I specialize in treating psychosis, PTSD, complex trauma, and developmental disabilities. Unique populations I work with include combat veterans , first responders, and children under 5 years. When working with children, I use client-centered play therapy as this allows the child to communicate through play. For my adult clients who want to heal from trauma, I provide a space to unload the trauma. Trauma becomes a very heavy burden and people need a place to put it. I will provide space, structure and honesty so that you can heal.

How can I find a therapist in Denver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
