I enjoy working with individuals hoping to address relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, body image, trauma , shame, and life transitions.
I view therapy as a collaborative, interactive process that can powerfully foster change and promote repair. I enjoy helping individuals understand themes that echo through their lives, broaden their sense of self, build emotional flexibility, and develop meaningful relationships. I work to foster curiosity and empower individuals to develop authenticity, autonomy, and self-compassion. I also strive to playfully challenge unproductive beliefs and explore the function of behaviors. I received my master's degree in 2009 and PsyD in 2012 from the University of Denver.

In my practice we am able to help you work on trauma , addiction, change of life events to include but not limited to starting or dissolving a family, and operating in a family system where conflict is the primary form if interaction.
My name is Agnieszka Baklazec and I along with three other therapists in my practice are here for you. We believe that some of life events are traumatic enough and difficult enough that we lose sight of who we truly are as people. We believe therapy can help us get to that beautiful state when, even the imperfections, make up for a beautiful human being each of us is. We also believe that therapy should be affordable and accessible, therefore, we have the ability to offer sliding scare at my practice. This option is usually ideal for someone who does not have insurance or chooses not to utilize it.

Men often experience their mental health in ways that are unique to them, commonly influenced by societal and cultural expectations. For this reason, men in therapy benefit most when working with a therapist who truly understands the challenges facing men in today’s world. As a male therapist, my practice is tailored towards supporting men through relationship issues and trauma , as well as career, stress and other personal struggles. My goal as a therapist is to help men to find their true potential in living happy and successful lives.

I use a systems lens and trauma informed approach, which is the understanding that all parts of our lives are connected, that each piece impacts and affects each other, and that doing the work is always worth it.
I believe that healing requires us to engage our whole selves, our mind, body, and heart. As a clinician, I have found that an integrative approach utilizing multiple therapy modalities and approaches is most effective in helping each client achieve the goals they desire. As part of this integrative approach, I prefer to provide 90 minute sessions, when possible, in order to get the most out of each session together. This allows us to fully utilize tools such as EMDR, psychodrama, and other experiential therapies. If you are ready to dive deeper and engage your whole self toward greater healing, I am excited to work with you!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
