I work with survivors, and the people who love them. People healing from sexual abuse, rape, and trafficking. Teenagers navigating self-harm, suicidal ideation, or behavioral patterns that aren’t making sense yet. Adults who’ve been carrying something heavy for a long time and are finally ready to set it down. Whatever you’re sitting with, the stuff that feels too heavy, too shameful, or too complicated to say out loud, I can hold it with you while we figure out where to go from there.

Trauma can make us feel disconnected from those around us. Our minds are phenomenal at adjusting to even the most extreme circumstances, but sometimes it is difficult to return to a normal way of functioning even after the threat is gone. Sometimes our lives have been so filled with trauma that we can't even define what "normal" is. All we know is that we feel alone, anxious, perhaps even caught up in cycles of behaviors that we know are destructive but just can't seem to stop. I take a "fellow traveler" approach to healing, accompanying you on your journey to heal wounds and form lasting relationships with others.

I am a therapist who works with others to define and pursue meaning and paths forward throughout the therapeutic relationship. The human-to-human relationship is the most important aspect of any therapeutic relationship. Everyone has their rock bottoms and dreaded low points, some more frequent than others, and it is in these moments that we seek out our most precious memories and experiences, drawing upon the peace we have felt from others to garner hope for a future with more light to come. At times, we have to be creative, and I strive to be one of these lights in the minds and hearts of my clients in these inevitable moments.

There are times that we need to open our consciousness, to feel ourselves guided, protected, supported, and upheld in our lives, and depth therapy is this remarkable process that creates internal growth that mirrors the therapeutic relationship. Especially through working with dreams, therapy can initiate a change process that heals, vivifies, and leads from the client's own inborn potentials- potentials which may seem elusive at the start of the journey. The process of a course of depth therapy can support finding a deep well of strength and internal support. Please feel welcome to reach out and ask questions!

Live your truth. Follow your bliss. Do you. Sounds simple, right? Except that, all too often, we convince ourselves that who we are is not enough, that what we want is undeserved. So we stifle our talents, ignore our truth and deny our deepest desires. Before we know it, we’re living someone else’s life, satisfying everyone’s expectations but our own. All to earn the love and acceptance we don’t feel worthy of otherwise. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

I have worked with individuals who have struggled with trauma, addiction, and mental health struggles for the last 10 years. I have seen the damage that can occur when we attempt to carry these burdens alone. I hope to help. To support you in building connections, addressing trauma, and finding more adaptive ways to get what you want and need out of your life. As a licensed addictions counselor (LAC) and certified sex addictions therapist (CSAT), I understand how we may have come by coping mechanisms that may be hurting more than helping. I can work with you to address the core issues and build new ways to take care of yourself.

My ideal clients are adults who are ready to do the deep work — people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected and are seeking real, lasting change. Many come to me carrying the weight of past trauma, difficult relationships, or persistent anxiety and depression that has gone unaddressed for too long. They’re tired of simply surviving and want to feel grounded, understood, and capable of truly thriving. I have a particular focus on complex presentations involving emotional intensity, relational challenges, and longstanding patterns rooted in early experiences.

Schema Therapy
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognizing and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
