I work with adolescents 9+ and adults struggling with a wide range of difficulties such as: anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, school and social phobia, attention deficit and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, adjustment to major life events, grief and loss, attachment issues, selective mutism, body image issues, self-harm.
Adolescence is a critical stage for the development of an individual’s mental health. Events that take place during these formative years can significantly impact a young person’s self-perception, how they understand and tolerate emotions, the beliefs they form about the world, and can influence their relationships with others. Faulty beliefs or thought patterns that develop in this time can cause debilitating distress and lead to mental health difficulties, which may extend into adulthood. This is why I am passionate about helping people establish strong mental health practices.

I am a child therapist at Anxiety Solutions of Denver specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD . Most of the children and families I come into contact with have found the lack of available anxiety and OCD specialists discouraging. To add to their frustration, the lack of anxiety and OCD specialists who specifically work with children is even more apparent. I not only find a sense of fulfillment in providing effective treatment to those in need, but also feel lucky to be able to facilitate optimism and security with my clients in knowing they are in competent hands.

My career in OCD treatment began at the first OCD -specific residential treatment center, the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital, of Harvard Medical School.
Do repetitive thoughts or habits preoccupy you, consume valuable time, or alienate you from others? If so, you may have Obsessive -Compulsive Disorder, or OCD . If you have questions about OCD or its treatment - for yourself or someone you know - please contact me. I have specialized in helping people with OCD since 2002. OCD 'triggers' are often more severe in someone's home environment, and symptoms can make it especially difficult to attend outside appointments, so I work with people in their own homes and communities in addition to meetings at my office.

In therapy this means combining an essential foundation of authentic rapport and unconditional positive regard with the expertise to apply psychological science (including CBT, ACT, EMDR, DBT, ERP) to address specific mental health concerns (including OCD , panic/anxiety, depression, trauma).
I know how difficult the search for a therapist can be. It feels like there's a lot riding on making the right choice, but there's so much uncertainty about what the right choice even entails. Of course you want a professional who seems qualified to address your specific areas of struggle, but it seems to me that the most healing aspect of therapy is the experience of feeling comfortable enough to be radically open with a therapist who you perceive to be compassionate, nonjudgmental, and real. Try to find someone you feel you can click with on an authentic human level; otherwise, it's likely to feel transactional and limiting.

I work with issues ranging from children/teens who have experienced trauma, attachment issues, anxiety (including Obsessive -Compulsive Disorder, separation anxiety, and generalized worries), and emotional dysregulation.
Are you looking for a therapist who can help your child or teenager learn to manage their emotions instead of engaging in all-out temper tantrums? As a caregiver, are you wondering what the best approach is to manage these difficult moments and to deepen your relationship with your child at the same time? In a therapy session with me, your child will learn techniques to encourage self-awareness in order to prevent acting-out behavior and you will learn strategies to support your child on this journey. A typical therapy session may include play therapy, yoga poses, breathwork, and/or creative arts.

I have have a lot of experience with anxiety, depression and OCD , as well as helping people with big life changes, self esteem, and relationship issues. Everybody is different, so in working together I will listen to you and what you need from me to help you the best. A big reason I decided to become a therapist due to the belief that if people are more connected and insightful about themselves—and how they impact the world—the world itself will become a better place.

I am a therapist at Anxiety Solutions of Denver where my colleagues and I specialize in anxiety and OCD treatment. Despite high prevalence rates of anxiety and OCD in the general public, training in gold-standard treatment for these disorders can be hard to find. Unfortunately, I have therefore encountered many clients frustrated by previous unsuccessful attempts at therapy. Luckily, throughout my doctoral training I encountered opportunities to learn and apply the intricacies of anxiety and OCD treatment in numerous settings. I feel extremely fortunate to work in a setting with colleagues who have done the same.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

OCD is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
