As individuals traveling through this world, we find that our experiences can be as ugly as they can be beautiful and as challenging as they can be blissful. Navigating our lives can be confusing, scary, and painful. But I believe in an individual's ability to find their own answers, create their own meaning, heal, and even thrive. I view my role as a facilitator of that process. As important as it is to me to incorporate my knowledge of psychology into the therapeutic process, it is equally important to me to simply be a human being in a therapeutic space with another human being.

My approach to therapy is simple; provide an environment that is safe for YOU to begin exploring problems in your life that you feel influence your ability to find genuine happiness on a day-to-day basis. Every phase of life offers new challenges, uncertainty, and opportunities for growth. I believe in empowering people, treating everyone equally with respect, and know from personal experience how taking a holistic approach with a person is the most effective way of healing. I understand how vital it is to meet each person where they are at and build resilience from within through a person-centered methodology. I know that one instance of feeling value can be life changing and know our true selves need affirmation, encouragement, and validation to be heard and understood.

Ardent Grove Foundation
Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, PhD, LPCC
Ardent Grove is rooted in providing low-cost, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, care. We believe that the work of therapy is done best in a therapeutic relationship where there is warmth, collaboration, and space to be genuinely heard, seen, and honored. Our therapists are selected based not only on their areas of expertise, but on what they have to offer as partners in the therapy process – accessibility, professionalism, non-judgement, creativity, insightfulness, and compassion. We deeply value the courage and effort it takes to come to therapy, and we consider it a privilege to be on this journey with those we serve.

If you've ever felt like the systems we live in have sapped you of your joy and vitality, you're in good company. Many of us suffer, undeservedly, because our economic, political, and social conditions are out of alignment with basic human wellbeing. In my counseling practice, I seek to help clients reconnect with their intrinsic sense of wellbeing that has been obscured or stolen by these conditions.

Socrates wrote, “A life unexamined is not worth living.” So many of us are faced with challenges that are overwhelming and exhausting. And yet, when we offer ourselves the gift of introspection and support, beautiful things can emerge from our struggle.

Courage is the foundation to every client's work. Whether you are making a life decision, addressing your or helping your family member/ love ones' with their psychological struggles, or striving to become who you are and do what truly matters to you... Often times, courage may be disguised as anxiety, fear or painful indecisiveness. Reach a better understanding, through testing or mapping out where you are, and really listen to your symptoms/ guides. Then I encourage you to plant courage through forgiveness and compassion so that you can practice, acceptance, confrontation, working through, and letting go.

There are times in life when our experiences can leave us feeling isolated, alone, unloved and questioning whether we are "good enough." We may struggle to trust others or the world around us; doubting, hating, hurting or numbing ourselves in an attempt to alleviate pain. Experiences of trauma or significant stressors in our past can lead to continued pain in the present. I specialize in working with adolescence and young adults who've experienced trauma and/or distressing life events to heal from these wounds and find new ways of connecting with self and others.

I work collaboratively with clients who are struggling with feelings of anxiety, life transitions, genuine connections, relationship issues, attachment, bonding and adoption-related issues. I believe in the strength of families and individuals and I will collaborate with you by building on those strengths during the therapeutic process. I believe we all have strengths we can draw from which make us a stronger healthier human being. I believe in looking at therapy as a part of a holistic maintenance we as humans should all participate in. We are exercising our brains and emotions to strengthen who we are and who we strive to be.

How can I find a therapist in Denver?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
