Integrated holistic healing is not unidimensional, nor could it be. The concept of integrated healing is one which encompasses the whole. That being the mind, body and spirit of an individual. As an integrated health coach and mental health counselor, this is not simply my job, but my calling and deepest passion. Helping guide individuals who seek a deeper understanding of their inherent sense of wholeness, freedom and liveliness.

I’ve worked with very successful
men
and women through the years and they’ve all needed help at times.
If you're reading this I want to encourage you to keep the momentum! Reaching out to a therapist is one of the most difficult and hopeful things you can do and it’s worth it! I work with anxiety, depression, addictions and relationship issues. I've been a psychologist for over 35 years and I still love the work. My approach incorporates a spiritual orientation; this is due to working with people who are in recovery, and my own journey. Spiritual based psychotherapy is not about religion, but about accessing the Power that surrounds us, the power of Love. I am an active, engaging therapist with a sense of humor, it’s good to laugh.

I aspire to create a safe place in the session where you will meet with a
man
where you can have an authentic conversation about your joys and struggles in life, and everything in between.
Do you find yourself trying to control outcomes in your relationships only to be met with more things to control? Do you feel the need to hide certain behaviors from the people in your life who care about you? Have you turned to alcohol, sex, gambling, pornography and high-risk behaviors to try to prove to yourself that you are capable, powerful and worthy of respect? Have you been wondering what healthy masculinity really looks like in today’s world? If so, you are not alone, far from it actually. I have worked with 1000s of
men
over that last ten years who have struggled with those same questions and behaviors.

As a gay/queer cis-gendered,
male
therapist, my goal is to create camaraderie for clients to process layers of trauma to topics such as heteronormative standards, societal pressures, gender dysphoria, relational dynamics, or religious oppression.
Many of us experience intense emotions without a rule book on how to let it move through us. At a young age, we subconsciously take on stories that stick with us and they can often manifest the way we relate to others, our internal world, and the world around us. Whether it is a story that we internalize of being too much or not enough, I want therapy to be a safe container to explore the stories that may be creating shame or holding us back from our highest potential in life. I believe that therapy can be a space to build the internal tools to be able to better communicate and express emotions.

As one of five brothers from a large Midwestern family, I am passionate about helping boys and young
men
effectively develop language around their feelings and emotions.
Have you ever heard the saying "the mind is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master?" I can help you learn to not follow your every thought as if it is a command, and to be more connected to the present moment. Integrity, humility, benevolence, and community are the core values of my practice. As your therapist, I will help you identify your own core values and what is most important to you. Once we know what is most important, we can nourish those areas while changing how you relate to unhelpful thinking patterns. I believe therapy is about repairing relationships, whether to food, to your body, to others or with yourself.

As a bi-racial, cishet
man
of the global majority I've had to undertake redefining what traditional masculinity means for me and those with whom I am in relationship.
As relational beings, the experience of feeling connected to our authentic self and that of others is essential to wellness. Investigating the multi-layered stories that are told about us, that often inform how we view ourselves, is critical to finding alternative ways of stepping into the power of our truths. Exploring, and interrogating, the messages that are intimately tied to culture, ancestry, and community can offer wisdom necessary in addressing problems in living folks experience. Whether seeking individual, relational, or family therapy, I believe the healing journey is inherently a collective one.

Men
and with Couples. My work is focused on creating the relationship in which feelings can be shared fluidly, where the space itself that we all have created together fosters the communication and honesty that will be the bedrock of the work that will follow. All is welcome, there is no judgement and no criticism. The power for change exists within all of us and together we can find, fostered and or reveal that power.

Male Therapists
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
