I have provided individual, couples, and family therapy for over twenty years. I specialize in working with individuals dealing with trauma and behavior issues including school difficulties, delinquent behaviors, emotional problems and relationship issues including problems within the family. I work with parents to learn the skills necessary to successfully intervene with their adolescent. I believe that a short-term, intensive intervention can be very successful.

We all carry moments that shape us—some that serve us well and others that no longer fit. We all develop strategies for connection and safety, which often serve us well until they longer do. Together, we’ll explore the strategies you’ve developed to navigate life, understand how they’ve helped you, and identify where they may be holding you back. We’ll work collaboratively to uncover new ways of being that align with your goals and values. I work to help folks find safety within themselves, so they can experience life more fully, with greater awareness of their internal landscape.

The mind-body connection plays a crucial role in health and wellness, and disruptions can impact both mental and physical well-being. These challenges can influence identity, mental health, and physical performance. With 20 years of experience working with athletes and individuals in crisis, I have found that integrating psychological and physiological approaches is key to lasting wellness. Addressing both aspects in counseling creates a more comprehensive path to healing, resilience, and overall well-being.

I know how difficult the search for a therapist can be. It feels like there's a lot riding on making the right choice, but there's so much uncertainty about what the right choice even entails. Of course you want a professional who seems qualified to address your specific areas of struggle, but it seems to me that the most healing aspect of therapy is the experience of feeling comfortable enough to be radically open with a therapist who you perceive to be compassionate, nonjudgmental, and real. Try to find someone you feel you can click with on an authentic human level; otherwise, it's likely to feel transactional and limiting.

I became a therapist because I believe in the transformative power of therapy and its ability to destigmatize mental health. I can support you by treating shame and depression through self-expression, dealing with anxiety by finding gratitude, and treating guilt through identifying helpful action. I can help you better understand yourself in order to help you gain peace of mind and mental clarity. I am a LGBTQIA+ allied therapist, and I welcome working with couples and families. Relationships can be tough, and challenges in relationships can often benefit from a impartial, professional perspective.

If you’ve gone silent to hold it together, you’re not the only one. I offer men a way to reconnect and regain a sense of control. I help men move past childhood trauma, addiction, negative self-talk, identity, divorce, and other struggles. Part of the reason so many men don’t get the help they need is because “men’s issues” are often downplayed, and few therapists focus on our specific struggles. I’ve seen too many good men try to go it alone, tear themselves down, or carry shame over addiction or failing relationships.

There are times in life when one needs backup. Do not "go-it-alone" when it comes to life's challenges, but let me assist you on your path. The only constant in life is change and they come with personal, relational, and professional adjustments. Navigating the changes can be smoother with a trained professional behind you. We all have blind spots, even in the things we are best at doing. So trained perspective can help us discover them and tap into our inner wisdom to make our own decisions.

Is pornography, cybersex, or sexual addiction impacting your life? Are you feeling alone, sexually rejected, or struggling with low desire in your relationship? Do you want more sexual and emotion intimacy? Are you concerned about your sexual identity or sexual functioning? It is common for people to encounter sexual problems, at any age. What is uncommon is for people to do something about those problems before they irreparably damage their self-esteem and relationships. Left unmanaged, anger, shame, and fear increase. The sooner you come in for help the better chance you have of growing a happy, healthy sexual life.

Has anger caused problems in your relationships or personal life? Perhaps you've done therapy but can't seem to get a hold of this part of your life. I specialize in helping men and women understand the emotion of anger, and explore what's underneath this challenging emotion. Struggling with anger often means difficulty with relationships, anxiety, depression, or shame because anger is closely related to these other parts of your life. If you're looking to get to the root of your anger and learn how to regulate this emotion for the long term I would love to connect with you.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
