I specialize in working with individuals coping with chronic illness, trauma recovery, grief / loss , and disordered eating concerns.
Hello! Congratulations on taking this first step towards healing which I know can feel overwhelming. Trauma and stress can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and the world around us. I aim to provide a brave, empowering, and validating space to process present concerns and to reconnect with oneself, others, and feelings that you may have been told you cannot or should not feel. Our work together may include processing the ongoing stress of a chronic medical condition, coping with anxiety, recovering from past and/or current trauma, or learning to cope with the loss of a loved one.

Death and grief , sexual trauma, religious trauma, major world shattering experiences that must be processed.
You keep looping around the same negative thoughts, and the same feelings of anxiety and being insecure. Overtime, you notice patterns and experiencing seasons of hopelessness, vacillating with attempts at therapy or wellness trends. You are willing to take action but you are afraid that nothing will change. Ultimately feeling unsafe in relationships that you think should feel safe. Not knowing if it’s them or you with the issue. You end up investing time and emotional energy replaying the past or rehearsing the future, but never quite present. - You do not have to stay stuck. I believe you can experience restoration and freedom.

We all need someone who will bear witness to the pain, sorrow, joy, and hope of our life journey. Through my gifts of presence, empathy, and curiosity I strive to help clients gain a greater understanding of their authentic self. Recognition of our past experiences shape who we are as we look forward to who we are becoming. Maybe you're feeling shattered with grief , disconnected from yourself or others, lost, or alone - may this journey allow you the space to heal and become whole again. No two people are alike, with that I will do my best to tailor your therapy experience to match your needs.

I especially enjoy working with grief and caregiver stress as well as those coming to therapy because they want to “thrive rather than survive.
I work with you to define and achieve the life YOU want, whether that is managing symptoms, solving a problem, or simply living a more fulfilling life and being your authentic self. I believe a good therapist, like a good friend, doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear. I challenge my clients to see new perspectives, notice their blind spots, and find new insights. My theoretical orientation draws primarily from humanism and existentialism. I draw techniques from MI, CBT, and DBT. I would describe my style as cognitive-based and intellectual, with no “BS” and a healthy dose of humor!

I provide clinical insight and support to individuals as they navigate their way through life’s challenges including: life transitions, career and job identity, grief and loss , stress, cultivating self-awareness, searching for deeper joy or meaning in life, or experiencing a more integrated connection to their bodies.
I believe that each of us has the ability to heal from the experiences in our lives that caused suffering or left us feeling wounded. However, exploring this pain and sharing our stories can feel both scary and intimidating. I create a safe, compassionate container for you to draw upon your courage to look inward and explore the wounds that bring you to therapy. My holistic approach to therapy tends to the whole person, incorporating the mind, body, and spirit to support the healing process. Drawing upon my mindfulness-based skills, experience, and clinical expertise I accompany each person on their journey of growth and discovery.

I'll be there with you to unpack your grief , in the many ways it will show up.
You wake up each day and it hits you again. You’ve entered a new reality: one you would do anything to escape. You've lost something or someone that made life make sense. Maybe you've experienced a difficult break-up. Lost a dream job. Maybe you're struggling with your health. Or maybe someone you love has died. Either way, you don't know where to go from here. It doesn't feel like the people in your life to whom you turn for support understand what you're going through. You might worry they have too much going on in their own lives.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
