I especially love working with people who want to dig deep into trauma or grief and get to the root of what’s going on.
I am dedicated to helping people experience more peace, emotional regulation, and confidence. The stories we tell ourselves about our lives are very powerful. By identifying the narratives that are empowering us and the ones that are causing us harm, we can choose to write a new story, one where we are our most authentic selves. I aim to create an environment conducive to growth with a warm and affirming presence. You are the expert of your experience, and I am here to help reflect your wisdom back to you!

I have twenty years of experience as a social worker, with the past ten specifically as a therapist helping adults with trauma, grief and ADHD.
Personally and professionally, I believe that human relationships have the most capacity for damage and most capacity for healing. I practice under the ethos that the best indicator of successful therapy is the relationship built between therapist and client. Our unique relationship serves as a container to this time of your life and the issues that are ready to be seen, felt and metabolized. Within that container, you will be able to experience yourself within a safe relationship and know the felt sense of being connected to yourself while being witnessed by another.

I was born in NY City and grew up in Santa Fe, NM. My mother was a family therapist for 30 years for the state of New Mexico and I decided to follow in her footsteps. My first job as a mental health counselor was at the Denver Children's Home where I learned how to set consistent limits and boundaries, as well as offer empathy and structure to children struggling with depression, anxiety, and ADD. I earned my MSW at DU in 1999 and worked at the Denver VA Medical Center for 18 years, where I learned and practiced CBT, CPT, PE, and MI.

I have experience working with a wide range of presenting issues and concerns; some of my primary areas of clinical experience include anxiety, trauma, and grief.
In a world where so much uncertainty and injustice are possible, feelings of overwhelm can be a natural—and chronic—response. Experiencing overwhelm can often produce a state of inertia in us where we feel disconnected from ourselves, our relationships, and our hope. Utilizing an approach that emphasizes compassion, curiosity, and belonging, we will find ways to imaginatively move past mere survival and seek the answers that can be found in the darkness. Together, we will work to restore a sense of vitality and authenticity to life, cultivating the capacity to more fully live with both the joys and sorrows.

Death and grief, sexual trauma, religious trauma, major world shattering experiences that must be processed.
You may feel stuck in this season. Overtime, noticing patterns and experiencing seasons of hopelessness, vacillating with attempts at therapy or wellness trends. You are willing to take action but you are afraid that nothing will change. Ultimately feeling unsafe in relationships that you think should feel safe. Not knowing if it’s them or you with the issue. You end up investing time and emotional energy replaying the past or rehearsing the future, but never quite present. - You do not have to stay stuck. I believe you can experience restoration and freedom.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
