No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to live happy and fulfilling lives. Life is hard and can present us with emotional challenges we’re not sure how to process. The first step is asking for help. If you're going through the adoption process, are an adoptee (youth or adult), experiencing relationship issues (monogamous and non-monogamous), are of a marginalized community, or have a special needs child in the family, I'd love to help you process through the complex feelings that accompany your unique intersection of identities.

I use a combination of EMDR and IFS- Internal Family Systems, guided meditation and relaxation techniques to help clients explore their feelings and needs so they can find the happiness they desire.
EMDR is a therapeutic technique developed to treat PTSD, and is effective in healing many emotional issues. It allows clients to reprocess traumatic experiences and replace negative thoughts, images and feelings connected to these with positive beliefs about who they are and how they want to live their lives.

I specialize in EMDR, Internal Family Systems and Somatic therapy to help your brain and body reprocess painful experiences so you can finally feel safe, calm, and present again.
When met with compassion, pain can become a source of strength. It takes courage to reach for help when you’re tired of explaining yourself, and when the words don’t quite match the feelings. That’s where I meet people: in the space between what you know in your head and what your body still remembers.
Over the years, I’ve learned that healing isn’t about “fixing.” It’s about learning to listen to your nervous system, your patterns, your emotions and discovering what those signals are trying to say. My work is to help you feel safe enough to hear them, and supported enough to follow where they lead.

At the heart of my approach is the belief that we all long to feel seen, heard, and understood. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that is compassionate and supportive, yet also invites honest reflection and growth. Change often unfolds when we have the courage to explore the meanings we’ve attached to our experiences. Through that exploration, therapy becomes a place where you can discover new ways of understanding yourself and your relationships—and, ultimately, experience yourself differently.

Therapy is all about you-you're the expert. I take a client-centered, solution-focused approach to therapy. In my practice, I integrate EMDR, CBT, DBT, EFT, Eco-Therapy, Art Therapy, and Somatic Processing.
On the outside, it may look like you have it all together, but internally, you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted. For many, the weight of ongoing geo-political events, and uncertainty in the world can also create a persistent sense of unease or lack of safety in the body. Reaching a point where you’re considering support isn’t a weakness, it’s a meaningful step toward understanding yourself more deeply and creating change that can lead to a greater sense of balance.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
