At this moment, try releasing your shoulders from your ears, unclenching your jaw, and removing your tongue from the roof of your mouth. We tend to hold onto stress in the least noticeable ways and subtle changes can help bring awareness to our stress patterns. Whether you find yourself struggling with anxiety , depression, trauma, relationships, life transitions, addiction, or the general stress of everyday life, you are in the right place. My hope is that through collaboration and a safe space to explore whatever it is you may be facing, I can be of support to you along your way.

I have 14 years of experience helping individuals cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), physical and emotional abuse, anxiety , depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, ADHD, attachment disorder, and low self-esteem.
I strongly believe in the protective and positive intention of all challenging emotions and patterns of thought. My goal is to help my clients explore the sources of these patterns, listen to their unmet needs, and then work with these feelings in order to get the need met in a healthy way. I also encourage clients to increase their tolerance of these uncomfortable emotions, which then allows for growth. I validate, support, and accept clients right where they are, while also challenging them to take the lead in their progress and personal growth.

Welcome! I believe that therapy is an experience in which we will work together, rather than one in which a clinician treats a patient. While the methods I use are evidence-based, my approach is heart-centered and mindful. Whether you are wanting help with anxiety , depression, trauma, abuse, addiction, divorce/end of a relationship, or overcoming a block in your personal growth, you are in the right place. I practice EMDR Therapy and received my EMDR Training from the Maiberger Institute, an EMDRIA approved provider of EMDR Trainings.

I specialize in helping my clients successfully manage life transitions & stressors (including grief & loss), as well as treating symptoms of depression, anxiety , ADHD, and Trauma.
My practice welcomes children (age 9 & up), adolescents, and adults to explore life issues and challenges, as well as existing strengths and assets, in a supportive & safe environment. Developing trust and building a positive relationship serves as a starting point; I then help my clients increase their capacity to ask themselves questions, challenge previous assumptions and patterns, understand their family/social environment and try out new thoughts and actions. Together, we walk the path of progress and change, taking steps towards becoming the best possible version of ourselves, as often as we can.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
