Some of my favorite topics I help clients address include body image, cultivating self-love, identifying and managing neurodiversity ( ADHD and ASD), and unlearning harmful unconscious programming.
If you’re here you might feel stuck, disconnected from yourself or others in your life. You may be overwhelmed with negative or critical thoughts about yourself and wonder why it’s hard for you to navigate life when others seem to do it effortlessly. You may have felt like you were different your whole life or like it’s hard to fit in anywhere. You are not alone. Our society is purposely crafted so that we feel constantly inferior. The truth is that there is no schedule or no one direction that works for everyone. Each person walks their own path and realizing this truth is part of the healing process.

My wide range of clinical experience has focused on issues surrounding ADHD , eating disorders, mood disorders, alcohol use disorders and relational issues.
I have a very deep respect for your interest in seeking therapy. It is an honest and brave way to move towards growth. One of my favorite quotes is by Carl Jung: "who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." Our sessions will be a collaborative exploration of your thoughts and emotions to help you find some clarity, direction and healing. Too often our avoidance of painful emotions goes unexplored and keeps us repeating cycles and losing hope. Together we can change these patterns and create a new, brave and authentic path forward.

I specialize in working with people that identify as neurodiverse-especially folks with ADHD / ADD .
You really want to get stuff done. Maybe you struggle with being organized, staying focused in conversations, or keeping things neat and tidy. You have a thousand to do lists laying around, but can’t figure out where to start. Instead, you go from place to place starting one task, but never actually finishing it because you get distracted by the other thing nearby. You might struggle at work. You, your friends and family may joke about these difficulties, but deep down you really wished you could be like everyone else. You really want to feel heard and understood. You want better ways to manage your emotions and your struggles.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
