Welcome! Please take your time to choose a therapist that you feel would be a good fit—doing so is vital to the overall process of therapy. My style? I want clients ready to learn, grow, and finally feel in control of their lives again. I am very passionate about my work and will give you resources in between sessions so that you aren't limited to progressing just once a week for 45 minutes or an hour. In this way, I try my best to be the "guide on the side", rather than the "sage on the stage", for my clients.

From a young age you started picking up slack, taking care of others, becoming your own parent.
You likely became a young parent. To keep you (and perhaps your little one) safe you leveled up your people-pleasing-taking-care-of-others-putting-my needs-last skills. Despite all of this, or perhaps because of it, you’ve managed to become “stable” and “successful” in life. And now, those skills that kept you alive are keeping you from living.

For many, struggles are rooted in childhood experiences with less than ideal parenting and attachment patterns.
I've been helping individuals and couples for over 30 years to improve relationships, deal with challenges, heal from trauma and abuse, eliminate self-destructive behaviors, overcome codependency and addiction, and to feel more secure. My practice was recognized as one of the three best marriage practices in Denver 2019-2025.

Whether that be the therapeutic relationship, a relationship with yourself, a partner, parent, child, or family member, relationships in all their forms have the ability to foster new ways we see and interact with ourselves and others.
My role as a therapist is to establish a warm and safe environment that empowers my clients’ strengths that in turn enables them to take risks and challenge familiar patterns that are no longer serving them. Using empirically informed interventions, I work collaboratively with my clients to reach their goals.

Are you experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression from living in this difficult world? Perhaps you've experienced your own personal trauma, or are seeking to understand and find joy in identities that the majority population "others" or discriminates against. I enjoy working with people across the lifespan, especially those in the queer community who are seeking relief and are ready to explore ways to show up with more embodied joy and liberation. As a queer therapist, I am also dedicated to changing the stigma around mental health from "what is wrong with you", to "what happened to you?"

Whether you’re navigating a breakup, in the midst of the dating world, trying to make friends in a new city, or you’re 10 years into your relationship- you’re feeling anxious and confused about why you keep ending up in the same patterns with people you love. You are aware your anxiety can make you question yourself, but you aren’t sure how to stop it. You might be having trouble sleeping, having gastrointestinal issues, or numbing yourself with busyness. You are highly attuned to anticipate others’ needs, but that often comes at your expense, and you want to increase your intuition to know whether someone is safe and trustworthy.

I know how hard it is to start therapy and the hesitation you may have to talk about your personal struggles with someone you don't know. But I believe, in life, we all need guides to help navigate the chaos and while we love the people closest to us, they have their limitations in how they can support. Life can bring intense, confusing experiences that can leave us struggling with how to cope or find words to describe what we're going through. In my practice, you can create a space to explore and bring awareness to difficult patterns you want to change, stress you don't know how to relieve, or thoughts that keep holding you back.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
