I use many techniques including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Guided Imagery and Narrative Therapy, which can pave reparative paths in your mind, body and spirit.
Personally and professionally, I believe that human relationships have the most capacity for damage and most capacity for healing. I practice under the ethos that the best indicator of successful therapy is the relationship built between therapist and client. Our unique relationship serves as a container to this time of your life and the issues that are ready to be seen, felt and metabolized. Within that container, you will be able to experience yourself within a safe relationship and know the felt sense of being connected to yourself while being witnessed by another.

I specialize in somatic (body based) therapy, utilizing mindfulness to help you listen to your most authentic self, while also incorporating EMDR for any trauma or blocks getting in the way.
Whether you’re navigating a breakup, in the midst of the dating world, trying to make friends in a new city, or you’re 10 years into your relationship- you’re feeling anxious and confused about why you keep ending up in the same patterns with people you love. You are aware your anxiety can make you question yourself, but you aren’t sure how to stop it. You might be having trouble sleeping, having gastrointestinal issues, or numbing yourself with busyness. You are highly attuned to anticipate others’ needs, but that often comes at your expense, and you want to increase your intuition to know whether someone is safe and trustworthy.

With individuals, I often use EMDR or Cognitive Processing Therapy to address trauma.
Hey Survivor, looking for a space where you can finally be vulnerable and imperfect enough to heal yourself and/or your relationship? You (likely) identify as a woman. You grew up in a chaotic and traumatic household, and statically you experienced sexual violence before the age of 18. From a young age you started picking up slack, taking care of others, becoming your own parent. You learned to keep yourself safe by being what other people need, smoothing things over, ignoring your intuition. Likely you left home early, which left you vulnerable to your first serious relationship with someone much older and unsafe/unhealthy.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
