Are anxiety, depression, and trauma creating roadblocks in your life? Does it feel like there is a disconnect between you and the world around you? It is normal for the trauma stored in your body to create barriers to connection. Unfortunately, these barriers can be incredibly painful and difficult to cope with. You may be experiencing cycles of painful thoughts, days of numbness, or outbursts of anger.

My ideal clients come into my office hoping to explore and better understand themselves and others, foster healthy and happy relationships, shift ineffective behavioral and relational patterns, and work towards a life that they consider fulfilled and worth living. Let’s focus on symptom reduction and personal growth. Change can be terrifying and at times feel impossible. Our work will be exploring and attending to how to best balance safety and risk to reach your personal goals. Change, which can be joyful and exciting, often also comes with loss and pain. Let’s work together to understand what that balance looks like for you.

I am the life coach for therapists, healers, seekers, & dreamers. NO big Package by-ins--have 1 session at a time with no commitment--and I'll happily give referrals if I'm not the right healer for you. Good fits? Previous therapy experience, already has some understanding of personal 'stuck points' and want guidance, support, mentorship, & 'how-to' tools to live balanced, fulfilled, peaceful. Life is hard enough--easier with emotionally effective tools and strategies. I think my best work is in teaching people from difficult backgrounds how to fully, deeply, love and heal themselves, to get out of survival mode and into LIVING.

Why are you seeking Therapy now? Are you ready to do the therapeutic depth-work ? Every person who seeks psychotherapy is ambivalent about starting. Part of them wants to change. Another part wants to preserve the psychological status quo, however painful and self-defeating it may be. Real Psychotherapy leads to long lasting Psychological Change. Give it try. The more you organize your inner world, the more successful you can be in the outer world; and feel what it’s like to inhabit yourself in a new way.

Life can be really hard, and sometimes the hardest part is asking for help. Humans are complicated, social beings, and we often don't get a guidebook on how to navigate our lives or relationships. If you have a history of mental illness, relationship issues, identity concerns, trauma, mood changes, or life transitions, those feelings may have been exacerbated by our current world. If you are ready to ask for help, let me offer a relaxed, non - judgmental space to provide mental wellness. I have worked for a decade with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.

I enjoy working with a wide array of people, with many different presenting problems. Over the course of my career I've been lucky to have done therapy work in several different settings, and consequently I like to take on a bit of everything. I want to make people feel open and comfortable with talking about whatever kinds of problems they might have.

Many times, life transitions and unresolved trauma can make us feel like there is no way out. It can be overwhelming. But it does not have to be like that. As your therapist, I can provide a supportive nonjudgmental space for you to explore and resolve issues related to past trauma or present moment challenges.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
