My training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and EMDR is oriented towards those who are seeking insight into themselves and past trauma through a positive perspective as we work towards making tangible goals for improvement in relationships, self-acceptance, and general well-being.
If you are seeking clarity and understanding into how your experiences have influenced your quality of living, I would greatly enjoy meeting with you! I enjoy working from an empowered approach into our past; addressing past traumas and grief as a way to move forward and live 'in the moment' with a sense of understanding. Mind-body health and awareness are stressed throughout our work together for optimal healing and vitality.

I know sometimes it feels like no one can help you. That you are too much, too dark, and too broken to be helped. Sometimes trauma can manifest by cutting, eating disorders, depression, chaos, and a real struggle to maintain friendships. It can be hard to even picture what a stable and consistent life would look like, but it's still something you want. Chaotic feelings feel like they take over you and you struggle to make it through each day. You want to live but still feel suicidal. This is all normal for someone with trauma , someone who has been through abuse, someone who has experienced broken relationships and even toxic ones.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver, where my clinical work spanned ages 11-60, covering anxiety and depression, trauma , relationship issues, financial struggles, body image, disordered eating, substance use, sexual and physical trauma , family dynamics, and more.
In my view, YOU are the expert of your story, not me. Together, we will work through your understanding of your story and how your emotions, actions, and problems fit into the context of your narrative. No problem is too big or small - you deserve a space to heal from any suffering you face. I operate primarily from a narrative orientation, but am flexible to my clients’ needs and respond to what works best for them. Practicing through a multicultural lens is of the utmost importance to me, and I work to maintain sensitivity and humility to the intersectional identities held by my clients.

I have experience working in attachment disorders, trauma , and eating disorders through the Arizona Trauma Institute.
I strive to serve the community around me and advocate for those who are in need. I focus on psychotherapeutic models to aid individuals in understanding the role their brain plays in treatment. Educating individuals about brain structure, function, development, and explaining how neurobiology can be applied to individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, and other disorders. Interpersonal neurobiology of human development aids us to understand that structure & function of the mind & brain are shaped by our experiences especially involving emotional relationships.

Therapy is not a one-sized fits all endeavor—you are the master of your experiences and healing! I use a variety of modalities and trauma -informed approaches tailored to your treatment goals, including CBT/DBT and Inner Child work.
Ever wonder what your inner voice would say if given the chance for full, authentic expression? Mental health challenges contribute to the quieting of our authentic selves. In truth, your story contains inherent wisdom which is the key to your growth and transformation. I work with the LGBTQIA+ population, ENM/polyam folks (individuals only), and anyone seeking mental wellness or relief from depression, anxiety, shame, grief, and codependency. My approach is collaborative, encouraging, and affirmative.

My therapy approach is trauma -informed, utilizing clients' strength, acceptance and commitment therapy with a mix of art expression and mindfulness practices to empower clients to become aware of their inner guidance, honor their values, and take action to improve their mental health for a meaningful, satisfying life.
Self-discovery is a process that can be incredibly difficult and immensely satisfying. Sometimes we seek it out and often it finds us through painful and uncomfortable experiences. At the core of my work, I value bringing deep respect for your lived experiences and perspectives, with a curious mind to understand your inner system.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
