Hello and welcome! I am primarily a child and adolescent therapist, but I am opening up my scope of practice to young adults. I treat a variety of mental health challenges including anxiety , trauma, chronic stressors, grief and loss, and adjusting to life changes. I create a safe and welcoming environment, so my clients feel comfortable going on their therapeutic journey with me. We work together to meet the goals they have created in conjunction with me. We are very much a team trying to achieve the same end goal which is to improve overall emotional well-being and develop coping skills.

My areas of focus include relationship issues, anxiety , depression, and life transitions.
Sometimes life presents unexpected and challenging situations to handle. Every so often we spend years carrying the weight of painful events that have not been resolved in the past. I understand the courage and strength it takes to recognize when it is time to seek help about what we are going through. Each one is the owner and expert in their life. I genuinely believe that everyone can cope and overcome life's adversities. My role as a therapist is to be the bridge that helps you find your own answers, your truth, and the meaning of life. We will identify your goals and take steps to achieve the best version of yourself.

You are in control. You are strong. You are more than good enough. And you are absolutely capable of living the life you dream of. Imagine a world where you didn’t have constant anxiety , panic attacks, depression, stress, or struggles with friends and family. A world where you can fully accept, love, know, and trust yourself. No two journeys through life are the same, and no two treatments will be the same either.

I have extensive training and experience helping clients who are dealing with relationship/intimacy issues; addictions; depression and anxiety ; grief and loss; communication difficulties; trauma and PTSD; child/adolescent issues and divorce.
With 25 years in clinical practice, I am a firm believer in the effectiveness of psychotherapy to improve self confidence and self esteem, to develop more fulfilling relationships and to set one's life course in a positive direction for the future. I try to not only help my clients find relief from bothersome symptoms but also to help get to the root of the problem that has brought them into therapy. In this way the therapy has a deeper and longer-lasting effect as clients learn how to free themselves from problematic patterns from the past and live more fully in the present.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
