I utilize evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and a modern relational psychoanalytic theory Intersubjectivity theory.
When providing therapy, my goal is for us to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship in which our work together leads to you living a life with increased meaning and fulfillment. This can involve navigating through barriers such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, problematic/compulsive behaviors, lack of direction, etc. Often this includes identifying barriers, personal values that really matter, stories we tell ourselves that are no longer serving helpful purposes, deepening understandings of ourselves and relationships, and implementing strategies that improve quality of life.

I utilize EMDR, ACT, & DBT.
Life often throws us things that we don't expect, or never think we will have to deal with. Sometimes, it's more of a life transition that leaves us feeling alone or not knowing where to turn next. I have a passion for joining side by side with my clients, guiding them in their journey to heal from their traumas and have improved, more fulfilling relationships. I especially enjoy working with women, 20s & 30s, and couples as I have a multitude of experience with the challenges these groups face. I like to create a warm, personable environment so I can help you find the happiness and peace you deserve.

Utilizing a person-centered, strength-based approach paired with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness, we will unfold and untangle these intertwined experiences on the path towards understanding and empowerment.
Now Accepting Kaiser and Cigna Insurance! Immediate availability for appointments! As a therapist my goal is to create a safe and open space to allow you to express your authentic self. My goal is not to lead but to walk alongside you as we navigate through life’s events and experiences, both past and present. We go through life filled with emotion and sometimes feel like there is no space to explore or express it, and yet, simultaneously feel ruled by these emotions without understanding why.

I believe that one's perspective can be the key to their mental and emotional state; increasing acceptance and taking a different viewpoint can unlock the secret to contentment.
I am passionate about serving young adult and adult individuals in need of emotional and mental health support. During our first session I will get to know your history, current areas causing distress, some of your thought and behavioral patterns, and a general idea of how you engage in life and your relationships. From there, we will work together to address your current needs by processing and modifying thoughts and behaviors. As you find more stability and satisfaction in everyday life, we will work to gain deeper insights, process and release traumas and buried maladaptive concepts, and create long lasting change.

By utilizing a mixture of psychodynamic counseling to reflect on your past, cognitive behavioral therapy to address present thinking and behaviors, and acceptance and commitment therapy to accept and move you through pain, we will increase the connection between your mind and body and achieve a sense of empowerment to move you toward your goals.
You did it! You took the first step, you opened your browser and asked for help. Whatever may have lead you to this page, whether it be increased anxiety, depression, relationship or work stress, I'm glad you are here. Starting counseling can be an intimidating unknown. I want to help take some of the unknown out of this process! If you choose to work with me we will focus on identifying the barriers that may be preventing you from healing from past trauma, improving your relationships, and achieving the quality of life that you desire. Together we will work towards removing those barriers within a safe and supportive environment.

Through the use of CBT, narrative therapy, and ACT, I work to help clients feel empowered and make lasting change.
Does your worry or self-doubt get in the way of what you want? Does anxiety or people-pleasing keep you from advocating for yourself? Would you like to change your relationship with food and your body? If yes, then I would love to get to know you more and see if I can help you rediscover your strengths, power, and solidify your authentic voice. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, eating disorders, and self-esteem issues that stem from life's overwhelm and pressures. I invite clients to question their engrained self-perceptions to envision and create a life rooted in confidence and the knowledge of their self-worth.

Once upon a time, I didn't know who I was, and that made me depressed, anxious and insecure. The problem was, I was also pretty functional. I could almost make it through this life - going to work, paying my bills, dining out. Thankfully, I lost my patience. If you're curious or confused or losing your patience, let's talk. I've earned my letters and have fancy theories, but I'm helpful because I've been there and then found a better way. (For the geeks out there, my way is ACT, Hakomi and Buddhadharma).

I'm ACT & EMDR trained, a certified Prepare & Enrich relationship counselor, and have extensive experience in counseling in a faith-based environment.
People don't usually seek counseling because everything feels like "sunshine and rainbows". Typically, if you're here, you're hoping to motivate change in your life. If you are finding yourself stuck in the same patterns, having the same fights and struggling with the same problems, counseling may be a good fit for you. While there is no guarantee to a happier or 'better' you, I believe that counseling is a great place to start. As your counselor, we can work together to create a safe & comfortable place for you to explore tough moments in life, where learning, growth, (and even change!), occur.

Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Art Therapy and Sandplay Therapy, and my own mindfulness/savoring practice, I can help you learn about your values and how to stay connected to them, learn to live with mindful awareness and take in the meaning it can bring every day, and make the kind of life choices that reflect values rather than "should's.
Are you alive, but not fully living? Do you depend on things you look forward to but dread others, without a sense of sustained contentment and meaning? Sometimes we feel a lack of core vitality when we are not guided by our values. Some build their whole lives on "should's", (eg. should be a manager, have kids, etc), expectations that reflect cultural priorities, without getting to know themselves enough to center their own unique passions, large and small. I will help you identify & center your core values, so that you can make practical changes to your lifestyle to reflect those values and relax into a life of meaning & joy.

There are a lot of beautiful things in this world, but there is nothing I have encountered more beautiful and complex than human beings. There is so much depth, mystery, beauty, pain, and meaning in each person's story. I became a therapist because of my longing to hear people's stories and meet them exactly where they are. My greatest passion is caring for people through empathy, understanding, listening, and interceding into life's painful moments. I am committed to offering my clients acceptance, compassion, and unconditional positive regard in the midst of struggle.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
