Having completed coursework for a PhD in Depth Psychology, I am skilled at working with a variety of issues that I am happy to discuss with you. If you have the desire or goal of wanting to feel more in control, secure, and at ease in your life, I have a passion for helping you get there. I know it is not simple, nor should it ever have to be done alone. It can be difficult, and sometimes disheartening, to even start the process to find a therapist, so when we meet, it is really important to me that we ensure you have just as much of a role and input in our work together as I do so that we can collaborate and make our time together feel productive and the right fit for you. I do specialize in working with medical professionals, specifically physicians and medical trainees.

Just a few years ago I was caught up in a cycle of self-doubt, shame, and failure. I was early on in adulthood and already I felt completely worn out; convinced my life would end in ruins. Eventually I was able to seek counseling, and this became a major factor in helping me find a new sense of hope and freedom. I became a counselor out of a desire to share this gift with others. I seek to create a safe space where my clients can find new hope in their journey. When you walk into my office, I want you to know that you are welcome here; you belong, and you matter.

You may have learned that sweeping challenges under the rug was a reasonable way of dealing with uncomfortable feelings, like sadness, loneliness, and shame. And yet, while you may feel better at first, you couldn’t help but notice that the same feelings emerge again and again. If you are in a committed relationship, you may feel exhausted noticing that the same conflicts recur with your partner(s), leading to frustration or apathy. These issues can cause you to have a difficult time trusting yourself and your intuition, leave you feeling disconnected, and make you question how to move forward to create a life with more purpose.

I am working towards my clinical licensure in Colorado as a resident clinician with Centus Counseling. I am passionate about serving traditionally underserved individuals and communities of all ages, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community. I work with a trauma-informed lens that is person-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused. I offer a nonjudgmental, safe space for collaboration together to help individuals find their authentic self. I recognize that the process towards self-empowerment is not easy, and that small steps can lead to large changes that help one move from survival mode to thriving.

Resilience is my favorite word, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone because it is earned in the deepest, darkest challenges of our lives. It is my goal to partner with individuals on their ever-evolving journey of self-actualization.

I believe that therapy should be collaborative and will use a person centered and strengths based approach to helping you establish your goals and work toward healing. I combine my experience of working with individuals and families with my knowledge and passion for different evidence-based practices to help my clients achieve their goals. I find that therapy can best serve us when we are open to being challenged to meet our goals and held accountable in working to break patterns that no longer serve us.

Hello! As a licensed professional counselor candidate, we’ll work together to find an inner sense of balance in your life. Sometimes, that looks like practicing mindfulness or utilizing somatic tools to manage challenging internal states–anxiety, depression, grief or sadness. Other times, that may look like exploring the intricacies of a difficult situation or relationship. Ultimately, the goal is to come back to a sense of joy.

How can I find a therapist in Northwest, Denver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
