While therapy is becoming more socially acceptable, it can still be a nerve-racking process to begin therapy or start with a new therapist. I will not make you talk about anything you are not ready to discuss but by the end of our first session we will hopefully create a plan to support your goals. I am very adaptable to differencing needs and want to create a style of interaction that works best for who you are and what you find supportive. With that said, I do tend to be direct and use humor when appropriate but cannot guarantee the caliber of said humor:). I look forward to speaking with you soon!

Navigating today’s world can feel overwhelming, filled with constant change, pressure, and uncertainty—often beyond our control. Whether you're feeling weighed down by the past, overwhelmed by daily life, or struggling to bridge generational or interpersonal gaps, you don’t have to face it alone. I believe healing begins not only with safety and understanding, but also by recognizing the strengths you already carry. Learning to work with your mind, rather than against it, can be a powerful first step.

Stressors related to work, relationships, medical conditions and other key areas of life occur every single day, and sometimes they may become overwhelming and out of control. Most of the time, we are able to help ourselves out of these types of situations, but there are times when it is too challenging to handle alone. When that happens, we often find ourselves stuck and unable to react, or continue to use solutions that may not be the best for us. It can be very draining and demotivating, and spiraling out of control. We sometimes want someone to find a solution for us, while at other times, we just want someone to listen to us.

We are all many different things. We have many different feelings. We have many different issues. And we address them (or not) in different ways. We are a handful, and sometimes we need someone else to help figure things out. Human beings have a great capacity for growth and change, and in working together we can find the best version of yourself to be more authentic, happy, peaceful and inspired. My approach is simple: get personal. With an eclectic academic and professional background, I am committed to helping people through a method specific to their needs.

I believe most problems we experience are caused by a combination of two factors; carrying around too much from the past, and not taking good care of ourselves. The symptoms of Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Substance Abuse can all manifest from not cleaning up the past and from practicing poor self care in in the present. Using a variety of approaches including, Psychotherapy, Hypnosis, EMDR, and Process Work, we will together to shift this balance. As people get better at nurturing themselves and begin to let go of the weight of the past, they feel better.

As a human, you’ve experienced trauma. Some of us may have significant traumas that affect us in obvious ways, while others of us may not even realize that something we experienced was a trauma and that it has impacted us. Trauma is stored in the body and can even change how our body is functioning on a cellular level. These changes can lead to depression, anxiety, fatigue, ADHD, weight gain, physical health problems, autoimmune disorders and many other common ailments. The altered biology of the brain and body also keeps us stuck in flawed thinking and reactive patterns.

My work is rooted in the belief that you already carry wisdom—even if it’s buried under years of shame, trauma, or just surviving in a world that doesn’t always know what to do with sensitive, queer, or questioning people. In the tradition of contemplative psychotherapy, this is called brilliant sanity—your innate wholeness, never lost, just obscured.

I am in-network with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna and United/Optum, but I can also provide a superbill for my out-of-network clients and help with reimbursement.
Life throws us challenges, big and small. And sometimes we need someone to help us along the way. Are you someone who is struggling with depression, anxiety, perinatal/postpartum, parenting a child with higher needs, fertility issues, or low self-esteem/self-worth? Maybe you're struggling in your marriage/relationship or relationships in general. Or maybe you're going through a life transition that isn't what you expected and/or is challenging. Either way, you deserve brighter days and a quality of life that you are okay with.

You hold it all together, until you can’t. Maybe you feel stuck in spirals of anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or shame. Maybe OCD loops or intrusive thoughts have hijacked your mind. Or maybe you’ve hit a point where your body is saying “enough” - with overwhelm, shutdown, or a sense of disconnection you can’t quite name. You’re not broken. Your distress makes sense. Healing is possible. I work with adults navigating complex trauma and PTSD, chronic stress and anxiety, OCD, and life transitions - especially when old wounds are impacting your present-day relationships or sense of self.

Old Patterns, behaviors & habits no matter how painful have an incredible magnetic power that feels like home. Change on the other hand no matter how much better still feels uncomfortable at first because it doesn't feel like home. Do you find yourself doing the same thing over & over expecting a new outcome-that's the definition of insanity. Please, together let's explore your past & present thoughts & discover the cause/triggers to failures or destructive patterns. I use a practical problem solving approach that creates a dynamic and effective path for a successful Change.

Hi, I’m Lindsay – I’m really glad you’re here. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by how much in life feels outside of your control, you’re not alone. The truth is, while we can’t change everything happening around us, we can influence how we perceive the world, the role we choose to play in it, and how we respond to life’s challenges. My goal is to support you in exploring those areas so you can find more balance, clarity, and resilience—even in the midst of chaos. Much of my career has been spent in healthcare settings, particularly supporting families of children with complex medical and developmental needs.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.
