In honoring that each persons process of healing is sacred and special, my approach is highly tailor, accepting, and holistic. I work warmly and respectfully with clients from a somatically-informed and
attachment-based
lens, believing strongly in both the wisdom of the body and the ability to heal in relationship.
Relationships create the foundation of our lives throughout our entire existence. In fact, our earliest relationships can impact nearly every future interaction we have. If you have questions, concerns, or curiosities about any of your relationships - with your partner, children, extended family, or friends - working with a therapist specially trained in attachment work can change your life. Finding a therapist who really understands you, and what you are going through, is imperative in attachment work. Find someone who will both deeply support you and gently challenge you when you are on the edge of growth.

While therapy is becoming more and more socially acceptable, it can still be a nerve-racking process to begin therapy or start with a new therapist. I will not make you talk about anything you are not ready to discuss but by the end of our first session we will hopefully create a plan to support your goals and objectives. I am very adaptable to differencing needs and want to create a style of interaction that works best for who you are and what you find supportive. With that said, I do tend to use humor when appropriate but cannot guarantee the caliber of said humor:). I look forward to speaking with you soon!

My clients, whether individuals or couples, seek counseling when, after much thoughtful consideration, they are unable to get clarity on the nature of there problem or problems and/or have been unable to find reasonable resolutions that allow them to move forward in their relationships and their lives. My clients tell me that they appreciate my ability, thru the counseling process, to frame their problems in a way that gives them greater clarity on how to proceed and/or different perspectives leading to alternative solutions that open up greater opportunities to a more fulfilling , creative and satisfying life.

Stressors related to work, relationships, medical conditions and other key areas of life occur every single day, and sometimes they may become overwhelming and out of control. Most of the time, we are able to help ourselves out of these types of situations, but there are times when it is too challenging to handle alone. When that happens, we often find ourselves stuck and unable to react, or continue to use solutions that may not be the best for us. It can be very draining and demotivating, and spiraling out of control. We sometimes want someone to find a solution for us, while at other times, we just want someone to listen to us.

My qualifications and counseling skills cover a wide variety of areas, but are particularly well suited for those who want to become more empowered and for those who overuse digital media, (social media, video games, porn, gambling, and shopping addiction). Engaging in therapy can help you experiment with new patterns of behavior and ways of thinking, which can lead to more congruence between who you are and who you want to be. Typical areas of focus include improving communication, managing anxiety, living more authentically, enhancing your relationships, decreasing unhealthy habits, setting boundaries, and becoming more assertive.

Each of us has the ability to impact the world in a unique and powerful way and we are all born with the desire to deeply connect with others. Struggles with anxiety, depression, insecurity, burnout and stress can discourage us and keep us from realizing our full potential. Counseling gives you the opportunity to feel seen, heard and understood as well as challenged. It is through therapy that we come to understand ourselves more fully allowing personal growth, self esteem and possibly true satisfaction with the life we are given.

Therapy as with life, is full of twists and turns, with the occasional pothole. It is through developing a genuine relationship and fostering authentic trust, these twists and turns can be navigated. In my view of therapy, you are the expert, I am in the privileged position of being alongside you through this journey. It is through this mutual exploration we can uncover new stories and develop new ways to relate to our world. It is my hope we can create a space to grow our relationship and in doing so, create a healing experience.

Clients who are struggling but wanting to not only heal, but also grow have the potential for being extremely powerful people. We have all gone through difficult times, experiencing anxiety, fear, depression, and hopelessness. However, if we have healed, we look back and see those times as hard, but some of the most powerful in our lives. Hearts can become strong, marriages can be healed and become euphoric, and our families can become strong, powerful, and beautiful. If you have a Christian background, I can help you become stronger in your faith. If you want to become a stronger leader, I am also an executive coach.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
