In my practice I typically work with adults individually (in one-on-one sessions). Many of my clients have experienced problems with mood, particularly anxiety , depression, and other mood disorders. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are needing assistance with difficult relationships, trauma recovery, transitional life issues, and stress management.

I specialize in anxiety , depression, trauma, marriage & family; & am certified in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing).
Clients who are struggling but wanting to not only heal, but also grow have the potential for being extremely powerful people. We have all gone through difficult times, experiencing anxiety , fear, depression, and hopelessness. However, if we have healed, we look back and see those times as hard, but some of the most powerful in our lives. Hearts can become strong, marriages can be healed and become euphoric, and our families can become strong, powerful, and beautiful. If you have a Christian background, I can help you become stronger in your faith. If you want to become a stronger leader, I am also an executive coach.

Through my career path, I have developed a strong connection to our community's mental health concerns, including crisis interventions, anxiety struggles, problems with depression, and trauma survivors.
Therapy as with life, is full of twists and turns, with the occasional pothole. It is through developing a genuine relationship and fostering authentic trust, these twists and turns can be navigated. In my view of therapy, you are the expert, I am in the privileged position of being alongside you through this journey. It is through this mutual exploration we can uncover new stories and develop new ways to relate to our world. It is my hope we can create a space to grow our relationship and in doing so, create a healing experience.

The experience of sadness and anxiety can often cause feelings of isolation and fear, but you don't have to go through it alone.
I specialize in helping people through difficult times, whether due to a loss, a life transition. or to challenging circumstances. It is in these times that we feel most afraid, lost, and unsure of the way forward. It is all too common that we cope with adversity by being hard on ourselves, withdrawing in shame, or disconnecting from what nourishes us. I will help you find the tools and skills within yourself to move forward and create a life in which you feel more connected to yourself and to others.

You are not alone. I specialize in working with driven, highly-motivated emerging adults who are struggling with anxiety , perfectionism, and self-doubt.

Often depression, anxiety , addictive patterns, loneliness, and relationship problems reflect unmet needs or neglected parts of yourself.
Are you searching for an approach to grow, change, and heal but feel like you don't 'fit the boxes' of the traditional approach to mental health treatment? Do you want to get beyond symptoms and coping and craft a life that works and is worth living? My clients are courageous adults who make the decision to turn toward themselves and their own suffering. They are committed to growing in awareness and want to walk through the world consciously. They are interested in the ‘inner work’ of seeing themselves, their lives, and reality around them clearly. They recognize that efforts to numb, avoid, or distract from their pain don't work.

I work with men and women who have endured past trauma and have trouble navigating work, relationships, and life on a day-to-day basis. Anger, rage, shame, addiction, anxiety , hiding, emotional cut-offs, broken relationships, isolation, and depression often come from a deeper pain and past trauma. We don't always have the words to address these issues or feel like we're "allowed to" have them. We can compartmentalize and focus on "just getting the next job done", but after a while we have to deal with our emotional pain as it may keep us from moving forward.

Each of us has the ability to impact the world in a unique and powerful way and we are all born with the desire to deeply connect with others. Struggles with anxiety , depression, insecurity, burnout and stress can discourage us and keep us from realizing our full potential. Counseling gives you the opportunity to feel seen, heard and understood as well as challenged. It is through therapy that we come to understand ourselves more fully allowing personal growth, self esteem and possibly true satisfaction with the life we are given.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
