Committing to know all parts of yourself can be a tender and transformative journey. I often work with individuals whose identities are layered, fluid, or expansive—such as multiracial, multicultural, and queer folx navigating liminal or “in-between” spaces—as well as anyone exploring questions of meaning, belonging, and self-acceptance. Together, we co-create a supportive, relational space to gently notice whatever thoughts, feelings, or bodily sensations arise in the present moment through embodied mindfulness. I support you in openly witnessing and meeting the many facets of who you are with curiosity, care, and compassion.

I have been in private practice since 1976. Most of the people I see want to alter repetitive patterns in life and love they cannot seem to change. Some have been in therapy before. I find change to be a challenge because we tend to see what we already know. The therapeutic process should offer a partnership during which new ways of seeing and experiencing develop because of the different perspectives that the relationship offers. Recently I have found Zoom to be useful for those with unusual schedules or locations as well as face to face visits.

Being human is hard! Luckily, we don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in helping teens and adults healing from complex trauma who struggle to create and maintain the intimate friendships and relationships that they desire. I also support people navigating spiritual and existential curiosities and crises. Together we move from experiences of overwhelm or meaninglessness, towards a sense of groundedness and purpose. Through my own personal experiences navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and spiritual/existential exploration, I am able to authentically connect to my clients.

Depression, anxiety, trauma, obsessions, etc live in the mind's dark corners and create cages that breed and maintain pain, stagnation, isolation, and an inability to think. If your suffering feels like a never-ending cycle and a lifelong struggle, you’ve come to the right place. There are no tricks or quick fixes -despite what some might promise- so, let's explore your history and mind's process, and discover your strengths within. Once you finally understand the patterns and process the internal conflicts that have been keeping you stuck, the cage can be dismantled.

Overcoming trauma is the most liberating action any one person can take for themselves. I am EMDR trained and I have found EMDR to be far and away the most effective trauma therapy. It has been almost magical to see how clients transform with EMDR. Helping people change the way they think, act, and feel, especially in relation to something that has been interfering with their every day lives, is endlessly rewarding. I am driven by the passion to heal trauma. It is the way that I believe I can have the greatest positive impact on the world around me.

Are you feeling stuck, empty, or disconnected? You may be working harder than necessary because you are fighting against patterns that developed over years. If you find yourself getting stuck in the same patterns, in spite of yourself, there is a way to break free... to have peace about your past and to feel excitement and hope about your future. We all have wisdom and courage within us, but at times, we need help reconnecting with those strengths, and tools to move through difficult issues. If you're committed to breaking the cycle, contact me to take the first step.

You may be struggling with anxiety or depression, feeling depleted, on edge, or disconnected from yourself. You might also be recovering from a relationship marked by manipulation, emotional volatility, gaslighting, or chronic self-doubt. These experiences can leave you confused, hypervigilant, or unsure of your own perceptions. Often thoughtful, empathic, and capable, many people adapt by over-functioning or minimizing harm. You want clarity, nervous-system relief, and a way to rebuild trust in your own inner reality—without being blamed or pathologized.

I believe psychotherapy can help with almost anything. Sometimes clients come in needing assistance with making a tough decision, while other times they’re needing tools to help better cope with anxiety or depression. I feel called to work with younger folks - children and adolescents specifically. I typically see children who are experiencing familial issues, ADHD, learning difficulties, and behavioral issues. Adolescence can be uncomfortable and confusing. It is a painful time for teenagers. I am deeply passionate about providing them with unconditional support, empathy, and a safe space to share their emotions.

I specialize in helping teens and adults with autism and/ or intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), and I’ve worked with patients with histories of trauma, anxiety, and depression. I believe that much psychological distress comes from gaps in our understanding of ourselves and others and that meaningful therapy is a process by which client and therapist think together to expand awareness and fill in those gaps. This can look like learning the “invisible” rules of social relationships, discovering our abilities to use emotional-regulation skills, or coming to know parts of ourselves that we’ve felt were not safe to know.

I am the life coach for therapists, healers, seekers, & dreamers. NO big Package by-ins--have 1 session at a time with no commitment--and I'll happily give referrals if I'm not the right healer for you. Good fits? Previous therapy experience, already has some understanding of personal 'stuck points' and want guidance, support, mentorship, & 'how-to' tools to live balanced, fulfilled, peaceful. Life is hard enough--easier with emotionally effective tools and strategies. I think my best work is in teaching people from difficult backgrounds how to fully, deeply, love and heal themselves, to get out of survival mode and into LIVING.

How can I find a therapist in Five Points?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
