When it comes to therapy, I try to make the process as applicable as possible for the client in order to make them feel comfortable. A lot of the clients I see are working on difficult transitions in life, such as grief and loss, coping with stress from daily life, or working through their past. The clients I see are all motivated to not let their past, daily stressors, or negative habits define who they are! We will work through these issues in order to gain awareness, generate acceptance, and then take appropriate action in order to get the most out of life. I will go at your pace to allow for both comfort and development.

Accepting new clients!... I believe that the therapeutic relationship is healing. I love working with individuals who are processing themselves as an emotional being, and how emotions feel in their body. As a therapist, I believe that I can never know more about you than you do because you are the one that has lived in your shoes every day your whole life. I feel honored and excited to be invited in and given a glimpse of what it is like to live your life. I believe that therapy is a journey, and I look forward to traveling with you.

I believe it's important to meet clients where they are and walk with them along their paths. Losses of all types, no matter how large or small they may seem to others, shape us in profound ways. Experiencing a loss, receiving a medical diagnosis, or coping day-in and day-out with stress, anxiety, and change can cause us to feel as though life is out of our control. We all have inner wisdom and intuition to regain our paths to authenticity and live our best lives and through our work together, I will help you tap into these strengths. I am here to help you shape your "new normal" and provide support and compassion along the way.

Asking for help takes courage and is a big step in the right direction! Possibly you have emotional pain from a previous trauma, loss or life transition. It feels never-ending: the constant battle in you head of what you ate, how much you ate, what you have to do because you ate, and whether that was okay to eat or not. You tell yourself that once you get to that number, that size, that feeling in your body, things will finally be okay. You can’t just stop, and why would you? When your mind quiets down all you can think about is how you have failed, how lost you feel, and how disconnected you are.

My love of therapy is rooted in the opportunity to witness and facilitate change. Perhaps you already know what in your life you'd like to change. Perhaps you are simply aware that you're not where you would like to be. Or perhaps you've had an experience you'd like to understand and get some clarity around. Therapy is a powerful and important pathway to achieving change, improving insight, and living a happier, more fulfilling, meaningful life.

People decide to begin therapy because they are experiencing psychological distress and they desire wellbeing. It takes a great deal of courage and determination to choose this healing approach and to fulfill such a tender and deep longing within oneself. On top of making a commitment to your self, the decision to go forward is like standing at a crossroads in ones life. Such an experience is filled with mixed emotions and potential! I begin the process of therapy by developing a therapeutic relationship with my clients that is built on trust and safety.

I work with men and women facing both the 'big' and the seemingly common issues of life. 'Big' life changes like a cancer diagnosis or a partner experiencing dementia; 'Life' issues like relationships, grief/loss, anxiety, anger, depression, persistent feelings of sadness, job difficulties, retirement challenges and more. Those who work with me soon come to appreciate the value of being heard; of being seen and accepted-despite the sharp edges that may appear as we try to protect ourselves from the pain the world sometimes presents us.

My practice welcomes children (age 9 & up), adolescents, and adults to explore life issues and challenges, as well as existing strengths and assets, in a supportive & safe environment. Developing trust and building a positive relationship serves as a starting point; I then help my clients increase their capacity to ask themselves questions, challenge previous assumptions and patterns, understand their family/social environment and try out new thoughts and actions. Together, we walk the path of progress and change, taking steps towards becoming the best possible version of ourselves, as often as we can.

How can I find a therapist in Central East Denver, Denver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
